It is, it’s amazing inside too especially the spiral staircase which you can see in the first picture – it’s a work of art in itself. But it’s a no-go area right now!
Nice capture it still looks quitee modern really, I like these types, I think one of the oldest buildings along from me is the old section of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington
Hi Keith – it’s a fascinating building … I’ve loved some of the exhibitions I’ve been to, also to use the conference centre – let alone the views and its situation. Great to see – thank you … Hilary
It is. Maybe we can meet there for lunch one day Hilary! I’m a regular when it’s open, everything from the Royal Phil to rock, art exhibitions to beer festivals!
It is, and it’s the hub of our town. Thanks, you lot!

That is a beautiful building. It reminds me of Tinside Lido on Plymouth Hoe where I spent most of my school holidays. My friend and I would pay the 3d bus fare into town almost every day. It was also built in 1935 in the art deco style. https://allatseawithme.blogspot.com/2021/01/wordless-wednesday_20.html
Wonderful art deco building!

Have an artdecotastic safe week 😷😷😷
Their catchphrase is ‘modernist and still modern’! Hope you won’t be needing the hospital, Steve!
Very nice pictures, Keith!
Hope you have an awesome week!
Very kind of you, thanks.
You are most welcome!

The lights at this building make it almost a “modern” of our time:) A great find! Jesh
They certainly do, and it has a modern outlook too when it’s open, especially in the two galleries which champion modern art. Cheers Jesh.
Wow! I just love that architecture, thanks for sharing those photos.
I’m pleased! Thanks so much.
What a great building! So iconic! Have a marvellously Happy Day!

Lovely memories. I just Googled it and it is a great place. I like a lido, we have one just outside Brighton.
I love art deco architecture! Have a great day!
Me too, it’s unmistakable!
Wow! Love that building. It belongs in an Agatha Christie mystery movie.
Funny you should mention that – 2 episodes of Agatha Christie’s Poirot starring David Suchet where filmed there!
Maybe I recognized it, I don’t think I’ve missed an episode of Poirot.
It was used twice for The ABC Murders, first in 1991 with Suchet then in 2018 for the movie version starring John Malkovich as the little Belgiun!
