for Ragtag Daily Prompt which today is hosted by Christine and the given word is Misplaced.
I thought I’d revisit a story I wrote about four years ago, but hardly anybody read! So, here goes –
.
Old Bob loved waking up and seeing his false teeth smiling at him from their glass of water beside his bed.
‘Good morning teeth’ he’d say.
‘Blob blob blob Bob’ they’d splutter back.
But this morning they weren’t there. ‘Oh dear’ said Bob. ‘I can’t have misplaced them. Where can they be?’
Bob’s teeth were sometimes a bit mischievous. They liked playing hide ‘n seek. They hid in his trousers once and when he put his hand in his pocket they bit him! Bob got his own back by making them chew on something very hard that lunchtime.
Once they jumped out of his mouth when he yawned, landed on his plate and started nibbling his piece of chocolate cake.
Bob needed to find them because he was going to see his friend Mabel that morning and he was worried he would scare her with his toothless grin. It was not a pretty sight. It frightened the postman once!
‘Ah, found you!’ he chuckled. His naughty teeth had hidden inside his packet of breakfast cereal, and they fell into his bowl when he tipped it up.
They soon stopped smiling when he poured milk all over them!
Just another fun filled day for Old Bob and his naughty teeth!
.
Who knows what all might happen when “your teeth, like the stars, come out at night.”
(Remember that old song — or wasn’t it a hit over there?)
Thanks for joining the prompt this morning — and for jogging my memory about another account of missing teeth, which I will duly re-post.

Not a song I’m aware of but it’s a great
simile! Just read your ‘memory’ and it’s hilarious!

This needs to be turned into a children’s story…seriously. It was SO funny, and I watched the scenes play out in my head. Extremely clever and unique. LOVED IT!!!

That’s so kind of you, thanks so much. I recently put all my kid’s stories together on a separate site – their’s a link at the top of the header. Again, thank you.

Well done Keith – false teeth I think have only been invented for us to have fun with them! All the best – Hilary

Love your story! Reminded me a little of my mother’s missing teeth from two years ago. 🙂
