Friday Fictioneers

Young Tyler was gazing from the window. ‘What are you looking at?’ asked little Kate.

‘The man in the moon’

‘Don’t be silly’ said Kate, ‘The moon’s made of cheese’

Mummy walked up behind them. ‘The moon’s a balloon’ she said.

‘No it’s not’ giggled the kids.

‘Tyler thinks there’s a man in the moon’ chuckled Kate.

‘Kate thinks it’s made of cheese’ laughed Tyler.

‘I think it’s bedtime’ said Mummy. ‘Go!’

Through a crack in her curtains, Kate could just see the moon. She watched a little mouse nibbling away at its surface.

Tyler took one last look and waved. The man in the moon waved back.

    Dear Keith,

Some think the face looks like Wilma Flintstone. 😉 Cute story. It made me smile.

    Shalom,

This is beautiful, Keith and I’ll have what they’re having.
I was in the plant section of our local Bunnings hardware store last Saturday. It was Father’s Day on Sunday and I was desperately trying to find a plant for my husband which didn’t look like I was buying it for myself.
There was a family with young kids walking through and about a 3-4 year old little boy says he wants to find a beanstalk. He was so articulate and looking through all the plants with such determination. I recommended some bean seeds instead. I still remember noticing that when the bird’s seed fell on the ground, it grew and planted lollies with a similar hope.
It’s a shame we ever grow up. Yet, an even bigger tragedy when we don’t.
Hope you have a great week, Keith.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

Cheerful and happy memories tucking the little ones in for the night. I enjoyed reading this tall tale.

Your story seems so true. , True children, trying to prove their beliefs, true mom behavior, not taking sides, rounding them up for bed, and true moral, that we all see what we want to see and isnt that just fine. Truly delicious!

And Mom’s balloon floated above her and winged her imagination aloft.

Lovely story Keith. I remember once when I was a child I looked up at a full moon and saw the man-in-the-moon’s face. Scared me to death.

Everyone seems to have a different take on the moon. What is yours, storyteller?

Keith I think we all see what we want no matter what our subject. I like the differing perspectives.

Kids will see what they want to see (and believe). Sweet!
Coincidentally, Wallace and Gomit’s A Grand Day Out was on the telly the other day, I couldn’t help but watch it again!

Man should never walk on the moon, what’s there is far better left to the imagination. Thanks Anusha.

I think whoever will read this take will Inadvertently go back to thinking his perception of the moon… Cute story!
