The rules of cricket are simple.
There are two sides in the field, one is in and one is out.
Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out
When they are all out the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those that came in out.
Players that are still out are not out.
When both sides have been in and out including the not outs, the game is over.

At this week’s Six Sentence Stories the cue word is Pitch
I’ve always wanted to know about cricket. Thanks for that explanation…I think. lol
I made it as simple as I could! Thanks, Deborah.
Hilarious and like reading a tongue twister. Love your SSS.
Haha! Glad you liked it Pat
Huh? 🤔
Mmmm!
My only experience with cricket is Diwnton Abbey
That’s quite enough! Thanks UP
Thank god you made it! The use of the word ‘pitch’ in the context of a near-incompressible ‘sport’ that involved 1920s tennis garb and women with too much clothing totally came to mind yesterday and, I was, all, like ‘damn! I sho do hope Keith makes it to Sixville’
(enjoyed the Six!)
I made it! Howzat! Cheers Clark.
Seems like every BBC production I watch has a cricket match. Now perhaps I will understand it? NOT. They were even playing cricket in a recent episode of Murdoch Mysteries on the CBC – Canadian. Truly a mystery to me.
There’s no escaping cricket here! Next time you see it make sure you have a copy of the rules with you! Cheers, Denise.
It sounds like at least everyone gets a turn at bat, unlike baseball where when your side gets three outs, even if not everyone has batted, you are out anyway.
Now you’ve started! In out in out, shake it all about!
I do love an English comedy, almost as much as an English drama.
I guess it’s the former, particularly as we got thrashed at cricket by Australia yet again yesterday! We are quite good at darts though!
I think I still have inside & outside still bouncing around in my head?
I suffered from that for days after writing this piece! Cheers, Bernadette.
Say what? Reminds me of Abbott & Costello!
I guess you are thinking of ‘Who’s on first’ – a great routine! Well remembered.
Yep. It’s every bit as good! LOL
Say again?
Now, concentrate. There are two sides in cricket one is…….
There are a lot of ins and outs to cricket….
Ups and downs too!
Well, that clears things up! 🙂
Pleased to have been of service!
