A short story for Sadje’s What Do You See? photo prompt
.
.
.
In his flowing brown cape and pointed hat, he blended with the barren landscape.
He came upon a wizened little woman slumped on a wooden stump beneath a leaning tree. Time had not been kind to her. A sorrowful shroud of loneliness hung from her sagging shoulders. Her troubled soul lay at her feet.
As he ambled towards her, the old woman looked him in the eye as though seeking solace and succour. He felt her pain and knew his charge was to soothe her sadness.
He held her wrinkled hand in his. “Don’t look down, look up” he uttered.
A smile spread across her face as the sky came alive. She rose to her feet, and he watched as years of sadness fell away to reveal the beauteous young girl she once was.
He reached up and caught a falling star.
“Put it in your pocket,” he said, “and save it for a rainy day”.
He kissed her hand, and then she skipped away into the distance. He was never to know what troubled her, he didn’t need to. His task was done.
He loved being a wizard.

A marvelous heartwarming story. Few stories show wizards in this light. Well done, Keith. Kudos for writing to both photo prompts! Awesomeness!!
Thanks, Suzette. If I was a wizard I’d like to be a nice one! I couldn’t resist the second prompt, as soon as I saw the photo a story appeared from nowhere!
Its great fun when the story almost writes itself. Awesome!
This is wonderful Keith. A beautiful charming story.
Thanks for your kind words, Di.
There are days I could use a visit from a wizard.
You and me too, Patricia!
This is most beautiful, thank you.

A lovely story as usual. And full of truth and good advice. Nothing make believe about that.
Nothing whatsoever! Thanks so much, M’lady.
