My window was covered with ice this morning. I opened it and peered outside. Everything in my garden was frozen, the pond, the plants.
The weatherman said it would snow later. Excellent!
I polished the bottom of a tea tray, I put on lots of clothes, I put a tea cosy on my head, I stuck my hands in some oven gloves, I got two bamboo canes from the shed then I climbed to the top of the hill.
I sat on my tray and waited for the snow. I waited…and I waited…and I waited…
Then it started to rain.

All is not lost. If it rains long enough you may be able to float. I say ‘may’ but…
A very good point, Sandra!
That’s pretty much like my little corner of Idaho. I’ve heard that the western U.S. has had a warmer than usual winter and it’s true for me. Lots of rain but not so much as a single snowflake in the valley. Good for not having to shovel the drive, but we depend on snow in the mountains for our spring and summer water supply.
I didn’t know that! Cheers, James.
I like the MC’s excitement for snow and how they prepared to enjoy it. Cute story, Keith.
High expectations! Thanks, lisa.
🙂
Awww, how disappointing when you want it and it doesn’t happen.
As with so many things in life!
Meteorology is a woefully inexact science. Fun story, Keith
It certainly is, I take everything they say with a pinch of salt – especially if it’s icy!
awwwww, so close
I know, I was so excited!
Too funny, dear Keith. Being a weather person is the only job I know of where you can be consistently wrong and not get fired.
Everyone of a certain age in the UK remembers BBC weather forecaster Michael Fish saying on TV back in 1987 that rumours of a hurricane were false. Hours later we were battered by the strongest winds since around 1700!
Oh no! What a story. Someone didn’t do a very good job checking things out!
Haha! I think we all can relate. The best laid plans and good intentions can both lead to the same place.
Too often! Thanks, Will.
All of our early December snow is gone. It has been raining, and raining, and … you get my drift, but not the snowy kind.
I do, more of the paddle boat kind!
Sounds like fun! bring your tea tray over- we have plenty of snow!
On my way, yipee!
I love his enthusiasm. Much better to try to enjoy it rather than whine about when it will stop! Let’s hope that rain turns back into snow.
If it does, I’m ready and waiting!
Wonderful!
I can feel the freezing cold and waiting for snow in the top of a hill. Wooo!!
It could be a long wait looking at the sky right now! Brrrr!!
Aw, shame…
I know, there’ll be another chance, you see!
Them’s the breaks. Bring out the water skis.
Dear Keith,
Sounds cold and soggy…the kind of cold that chills the bones. Me? I think I’d call it a day and wait for another snow. That rain’s liable to turn to ice. Fun story. Well…maybe not ‘fun’ exactly. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
Oh, no, so sad! 🙂 Waiting for snow but getting rain. Maybe it will freeze and he can slid down the hill on his tea tray anyways. Clever tale, Keith!
All that prep and no snow but rain. ☔️
