Holiday, day four. Optional tour of Château d’something-unpronouncable.
Shall I? Why not, a shot of culture might do me good!
There’s the guide. Yes, I’m listening. She sounds bossy! Up goes her flag-on-a-stick and we’re off.
“In 1763 blah-blah-blah.
Round there blah-blah-blah.
Saint so-and-so blah-blah-blah.
Up there blah-blah-blah”.
She’s such a châteaubox! She could talk the hind legs off un ânesse!
She just gave me another dirty look. Yes I’m listening. I must try to appear interested.
He took a photo, they took some photos, perhaps I should too. I’ll take a selfie. Smile!
I wish I’d stayed by the pool.
.
Prod the guide and she’ll take you to the squares!

Thanks to Rochelle for hosting Friday Fictioneers!

Dear Keith,
I love châteaubox. Very clever. I feel his pain. I’d take the pool over a boring tour any day.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Have to agree with Rochelle – châteaubox is great!

Oh you’re so funny my friend
hahahaha I’ve been there and I so get it!
I never go for the guided tour- I would be just as frustrated as your MC! Great write Keith.
Some of those tours do start to sound depressingly and boringly alike. Run off to a little restaurant on a side street and have yourself a snack and people watch, it’s much more interesting.
Too funny and very relatable! We’re kinda sorta on the same track, dear Keith. You’ll see when I post on Friday.
Keith, a delightful story and totally understand about chateauboxes anywhere. After awhile you just want to scream STFU!!!!!
Now if only the guide would really dish the dirty on the naughty doings of the countess!
“She’s such a châteaubox!” Funny.
Great snapshot Keith, and love ‘châteaubox’ 😅
Love the words you invented. You’ve put me off travel, forever 🙂
Sunshine by the pool is the usual extend of my culture, when I need a break to relax. Great fun from a bored holiday maker.
Hilarious Keith! Going back for another chortle – thanks!
“Chateaubox” … inspired! Good one Keith.
I had to laugh. A very amusing story, Keith! I’ve felt this way a time or two, on one trip or another. 🙂
I love châteaubox. that was brilliant.
