From a young age he’d enjoyed meetings. Seminars, symposiums and conferences fascinated him, be they small or sizeable, populous or less crowded. Participants assembled in rows or circles, sometimes on one level occasionally on two, all facing the directorate.

Given the opportunity, he liked nothing more than attending one, be it as a casual observer or a partaker.

It was only a matter of time before he found himself in a position of authority, after all, he had the qualities the task required; precision, punctiliousness, punctuality and numeracy.

He became a chairman!

It was his first day and he arrived at the venue with ample time to spare. The attendees were not expected for one hour and fourteen minutes. He rolled up his sleeves and began to arrange the seats in a circle; neatly, accurately.

The man in charge of the book club’s chairs had finally reached his goal!

Well done, Keith. Contentment in one’s tasks however small they may seem…so awesome. Great storytelling..I did not see that ending coming.
P.S> Love the characature image you created. He does look so proud!

The ending made me smile. He finally got a little bit of power. I don’t understand the need, and I can’t stand meetings. 🙂 Entertaining tale, Keith!

I’m not a meeting type of guy myself, I had to put up with so many back in my working days!

I was just thinking sofa so good until you hit us with ‘chairman’. And you didn’t even cushion the blow! There’s a stool in the corner for you, boy!

Nicely done, Keith, I didn’t see the end coming.
It reminds me of my days of employment where one of the greatest tyrants was the person who had the key to the stationery cupboard – oh how she loved the power of refusing requests for pencils!
    Human nature, eh?

Wonderful! They say it doesn’t matter what your job is; if you enjoy it and do it to your best, you will always be satisfied!
