May the 8th saw the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe, the end of World War Two.
During last week, like towns and cities across the UK, we celebrated the occasion. We lit a cliff-top beacon, had a parade, and held a seafront concert.
On Sunday, a street party took place just round the corner from me. You will not be surprised to learn that I took heaps of photograph! Here are some of them – quite a few in fact – plus three very short videos.
Click pics to take a closer look!.

All together now…
HERE’S LINKY!

What a great Victory Day celebration!
It was amazing, there were so many veterans there. Lots of people dressed in 40’s clothes too. All in all, our town did us proud.
If only we remember the lessons the war taught us
Wonderful and colorful celebrations
Everyone had a great time!
A wonderful celebration that most of the world celebrated when it ended. Wish I’d been there and found you. Hubby and I could have celebrated with you.
Thank you for hosting the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Keith. 🙂
If only, Sandee! Thanks so much.

My pleasure, Di!

It was! The sun joined in the fun!
Wonderful!
I love this. I love that they dressed up in old timey clothes – and how great is the poppy dress?
A lot of people made the effort to dress up – I couldn’t resist taking that photo!
My, but that was a grand celebration!
It certainly was, Mimi!
looks like it was a blast !
We all had a wonderful time!
What a fabulous celebration! Being a patriotic sort myself, I’m very moved by these lovely pix. Thank you for sharing, dear Keith!
You would have loved it, I’m sure, Nancy. These were the easiest pictures I’ve ever taken!
Wonderful photos of the celebrations!
Thanks, I’m pleased you like them – I took 183 in total!
It’s great to see your community came together to celebrate. I appreciate you capturing these moments.
Thank you, it was pure joy, Shiju!
What a fantastic celebration! It’s wonderful to see so many old relics from the era and to enjoy with music and costumes.
It exceeded my expectations, that’s for sure!
We heard on the news about celebrations but wow, that is really an event! Love all the patriotism, craziness, happy folks as well as the memorabilia. I don’t think we have any events that are quite like that over here. Absolutely amazing and so fun!
It was everything you said and more! I’m so pleased you enjoyed my photos, thank you.
What a powerful way to honor such a historic milestone—your community’s celebration sounds both heartfelt and joyful, and I can only imagine the spirit captured in all those photographs!
I was expecting it to be special, but it was far better than I could have imagined! A few hours of glorious celebration!
Looks like quite the celebration of a historic moment.
Sadly, things were pretty subdued here for VE day, especially given our current context.
I can imagine. Thanks for dropping by.
That was quite a party!
It certainly was!
Wonderful and bright photos, Keith. The weather and the whole event looked fantastic. Love the little minature horse (?) and the festive hats worn by many.
That was Rosie the Little Grey Pony who often makes an appearance at events around the town! It was great that so many wore 40’s style clothes – plus the union flag bowler hats!
A great celebration and wonderful photos. Thanks again, Keith. I enjoyed your share. Rosie is adorable!
That is so very cool. What a great celebration. I would have liked that party. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
It was a great event!
Oh wow! That sure is a wonderful celebration, how I wish we could celebrate the end of all wars!
…and so say all of us!
Hi Keith – Bexhill certainly did the country proud … I’d been fund-raising for St Wilfrid’s on the Monday … and met up with a friend for lunch on the 8th … whom I hadn’t seen for a couple of years – so catch up time. Brilliant photos – cheers Hilary
The vintage outfits add so much charm. Such a fun and stylish nod to the past!
Love the photos, Keith!
