Idiomic!

A little bit of silliness for Sadje’s What Do You See? photo prompt!

Here I am, sitting on the fence!

I’m a bored chef and I’ve been offered a job in a posh restaurant in the next town but I’m worried I’d be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

To do or not to do, as Shakespeare almost asked. They say fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Should I stay or should I go now?

It’s now or never. Duty calls, and I need to leave my mark.

I’m being interviewed in a couple of hours. Time is not on my side, but I’m tired and if I drive I might fall asleep at the wheel. However there are bumps in the road and it is a road most travelled.

I could just walk, it may just be the walk of life. It’s an uphill climb at first, but as long as I tread carefully I’ll be okay. Hopefully the grass will be greener on the other side.

The restaurant’s beside a river, I’m not sure how you get there but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I’ll find it come hell or high water.

Oh, I don’t know. My present boss isn’t that bad. They do say, better the devil you know. Leaving could be an idiomic thing to do!

You never know–the new job may be a cakewalk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. As my dear mom often said, “It’s better to be shot for a sheep than a lamb.” 😉

Haha, now you’ve started! Wise words from your dear Mom!

Outstanding and I love your great reading of the story too, Keith.
Perhaps the cook is right, it may be a half-baked idea to leave his bread and butter for those possibly “greener pastures.” But then again, the new job may have better fish to fry, no sense crying over spilled milk.
A great great job folding in so many idioms, the ‘almost’ Bard reference and a few song titles too. Bravo! This is epic fun!!

Sounds just like a guy I knew in post grad school. He couldn’t get through a sentence without an old saying in it.
