“Why are you wearing that on your head?”, asked Arthur as Ted entered The Baaamy Inn, “well, on my back from the pub last night after drinking a little more than usual, I thought how nice it would be to have a beer tap in my shed, so when I got home I went on Amazon to see if they sold them; I got into a bit of a muddle typing, but when I thought I’d found a beer pourer I pressed ‘order’, and today this deer stalker arrived, I really should be careful not to let alcohol cloud my judgement – but at least I won’t get wet hair next time my heads in the clouds!”
Shepherd Babs was looking through the window at the sky, “I always think that fluffy clouds look a lot like my sheep but without heads and feet” she said; “cirrusly?”, quipped Colin, “yes, seriously”, she replied, his pun having floated by her!
Bill wasn’t happy with the pint that Len just had poured him, it has to be said it was rather cloudy, Len agreed, raised the hatch in the floor and started climbing down into the cellar, “I need to change the firkin…” – “OY”, yelled Ted, “you don’t allow swearing in your pub”, oblivious to the fact that the correct term for a 72 pint keg of beer is in fact just that, a firkin!
As the ladies of the knitting circle clicked and clacked away, Polly was talking about this morning when the rain stopped and the clouds cleared and how she saw a beautiful rainbow which was all sorts of colours; “Richard of York gave battle in vane” said June, to bemused looks from her fellow knitwits, “red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, that’s how I remember them”; “remaining on your goodest behaviour is vitaI always say” said Mary, “I know goodest isn’t a real word but I thought it was the appropriatest”.
It was Colin’s big moment, the one he’s been looking forward to, “what shorts to clouds have on? thunderwear – I didn’t catch the train, it was so foggy I mist it – someone told me a joke about clouds but I didn’t get it, it went over my head – a couple couldn’t decide if the weather was going to stay dry, so the man suggested they ask their Russian friend, ‘Rudolph the red knows rain dear’ he said – in which country does it rain sheep? Bahrain – it was raining cats and dogs, I almost stepped in a poodle, – if you need someone to build an Arc, I Noah guy………”
When everyone had gone Len stepped outside, the grass glistened and leaves shone in the light of a full moon; some say there’s a man in the moon, but whenever he looks at it he sees his dearly departed Maggie; ‘goodnight Len’, she whispered as a cloud floated before it plunging the garden into darkness.

Thanks to Denise at GirlieOnTheEdge for hosting Six Sentence Stories where this week’s given word is Cloud

Nice ones from Colin especially, “if you need someone to build an Arc, I Noah guy”.
Also I like how Len sees Maggie’s face in the moon.
Delighted to have amused you, Frank!
The ending kinda made me sad for Len but other than that this was cirrusly a gas.
Poor old Len, he does miss her, but he’s still up for a laugh!
Keith, this piece is packed with humor and clever wordplay. Your characters’ quirks shine through, and the puns keep the tone fun and lively! 😀
Much love,
David
Thank you so much for your generous words, David
🤗 🤗 🤗
cirrusly…hahaha. I love this, Keith. And I am still smiling as I type this from your words.. “I Noah guy”..lol!!
Thanks, Suzettte, I couldn’t have wished for a nicer response to my six nonsensical sentences!
You are most welcome. And all six sentences made perfect sense, I think.
Good as always Keith. Loved Baahrain
Haha, thanks, Di!
glad you’re back with your six!
I’m so glad you are glad, thanks, Beth.
fave: “…Rudolph the red knows rain dear’”
(Welcome back (from…(wait for it) Spain where precipitation is draw at all tourists favorite destination… the flatlands) lol
The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plains, or so they say – I was in sunny Holland, the flattest land on earth!
I missed this crew last week, I’m glad you’re back and so are they.
So did I, Mimi! Good to be back.
Always funny, this time with a sweet ending. You’ve been missed, dear Keith!
Thanks Nancy, I like to show Len’s softer side now and again!
You’ve returned in full form Keith. Very nice 6.
It’s kind of you to say so, Sadje, thank you!
You’re very welcome
Aww, another lovely ending… dear Maggie😊
She’ll always be there in spirit. Thanks, Chris
Colin’s response to Babs is my favorite, Keith, as is the final sentence. Len…he’s really a romantic at heart.
