I used to love climbing trees when I was a kid, didn’t you?
I did, especially the holey tree.
Wasn’t it a bit prickly?
Not the holly tree, the holey tree.
Ah, yes, the one in the church yard!
No, not the holy tree, the holey tree in Hollowton.
Oh, I remember, it had a hole in it!
That’s the one, it’s still there you know.
Do you remember that tree in the park that caught fire?
Yes I do, I can’t recal what type it was, but it’s a ash tree now!
For years I pined for the tree they chopped down.
The one with cones?
That’s the one.
Let’s go and see if that tree’s got any acorns yet.
Oakay!
I used to sunbathe by that tree.
The birch?
No, the beech of course!
I’ve always had great respect for those trees.
The elders?
Yes, and those one over there too.
Likewise, what are they called?
Erm. erm, oh, yew know…
Anyway, nice to see you again Spruce, sorry, Bruce.
You too Cedar, sorry Cedric, say hi to Maple, sorry, Mable.
I will – oh, don’t forget it’s quiz night at the Monkey Puzzle pub tomorrow night!.
