…for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt.

Living beside a beach, I’m used to seeing swimmers. Moreso in Summer of course, but occasionally I spot a plucky soul braving the Winter waves.
Swimming’s not my thing. However, I did once venture into the Mediterranean, mainly to cool down on a hot day. Even then, I only went in up to my knees!
Right now the only way I’d get into any kind of water other than my bath, would be by wearing something warm, maybe a fur coat! However, I’d probably get mistaken for a beaver or some other aquatic rodent.
No, it’s not for me.

Prod Froggie to see the squares!

Before I go, I thought you might like a few seconds of calm. I recorded this down on the beach yesterday afternoon.

Dear Keith,
Swimming’s not for everyone. I went snorkeling in the Med. It was clear and fabulous. (Yeah, I had to toss that in. 😉 ) Thank you for the 46 seconds of calm.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Correction. That was the Red Sea 🙂
I’m not as anti-swimming as my tale may suggest, but I don’t share your passion for it! Snorkeling I’ve not tried, in any sea!
These monkeys seem to be having fun. But I would not venture in cold water like you. Love the waves and their calming sounds
They do! Rather them than me though.
I’m really pleased you liked the video, thank you.
Dangerous stuff, water. Goes up your nose and makes you dead
Exactly, enter at your peril!
I used to enjoy the water, swam laps at our local YMCA. That’s where I had my very first attack of vertigo, and I haven’t been back.
Thanks for the 46 seconds of calm 🙂
That’such a shame.
My pleasure, Linda.
It is a shame, but it was SO scary! And then my creaky old back kicked in, so my swimming days are over 🙁
I’m looking for a swim partner. We have an indoor pool here in town and I wanna go so bad, but I don’t want to go alone! Which is incredibly strange because I am a loner. I think it has something to do with being seen in a bathing suit? Stop it woman, you’re too old to be vain!
Well, don’t ask me! You’re never too old to be vain – do it, dive in!
I love swimming when I’m hot! Great to cool down when the sun is pelting out, but not so much when it is snowing!
On that, we agree! I swear I saw a duck shiver this morning!
Not everyone loves the water. Poor bloke, I pity him. Swimming and snorkling is so much fun. 🙂
I’ll take your word for that! I could never see myself as a human submarine!
Lovely recording Keith. Very calming indeed.
I’m pleased you enjoyed it, Di, thank you
🙂
Keith, the idea of swimming in a fur coat made me laugh. That’s a powerful aversion.
Love the video, view and sound. Nothing is more relaxing than water washing up on the shore.
Not a good idea! I often sit there at low tide, it’s so calming.
yes, well bears do it here !
I might just try it then!
The Polar Plunge is not my idea of a good time, either, but from what I gather, a hot tub on a cold day is a treat.
…now that does sound nice!
Dressed in a fur coat he’s likely to be trapped and hauled out of the water by a hunter. It’s just not a safe place for a landlubber.
A very good point! Thanks for dropping by.
Living by the beach definitely gives you a front-row seat to some daring swimmers, especially those who brave the chilly winter waves! I get cold easily so I wouldn’t dare.
I do see quite few here – rather them than me though!
Dipping is required, swimming is not hehe
That’s true. Dipping it is then!
And that’s quite okay. When it’s not for you, it’s not for you!
Thanks for the beautiful video!
It’s not, end of!
Thanks Dale, I’m pleased you liked it.
Right!
I did 🙂
I do love to swim, when it’s hot. The cold swimming I’ll never understand even with a wet suit. I enjoyed the calming sounds of your video, Keith!
I totally agree with you Brenda!
I’m really pleased you liked my video, thank you.
the closest i got into the water was in the blue lagoon in iceland this summer. it was awesome. 🙂
How lovely, I can only imagine what it must have been like.
Best not get in the hot springs with the snow monkeys in case your fur coat is mistaken for one of the troop.
Excellent advise James, I’ll bear it in mind!
I forced myself to swim in the Mediterranean, because I couldn’t go and NOT swim, but it was freezing. I wish I’d had a fur coat! This piece made me grin.
Rather you than me Angela! Thanks so much.
Fun. Each to their own.
That’s what they say!
It only took a few summer vacations at the shore for me to lose my urge to swim in the ocean. Dangerous riptides, strong undertows, ridiculously high waves, and shark sitings and the thrill was gone. Give me a pool on a hot day and I’m in heaven.
Speaking of heaven, thanks so much for the lovely 46 seconds of zen, dear Keith.
Apart from occasional ferocious waves, our beach doesn’t suffer from any of those problems! It’s the sea for me, occaionally!
