You know what it’s like I’m sure. You are writing a story, and one word, a single word you really need disappears from your mind.
It’s happening now. I’ve looked in my dictionary, trolled through my thesaurus, I’ve scoured synonyms. I’ve searched here and explored there, but still, it’s in hiding.
I’ll not give up. You won’t evade me forever. You are just a word for goodness sake, how dare you conceal yourself.
Ah, there you are. The word I’ve been chasing has finally become trapped, there’s no escape now. Remind me what you are … that’s right, H-U-N-T-E-R, hunter!

Adorable Keith!! ☺️
Thank you so much!
Words love to hide from us at times)
Too true, Beth!
This struggle is so relatable. Glad to know I’m not alone. That’s a very clever take, Keith!
Thanks, Shweta, it can be very frustrating!
Oh very much indeed! You are not alone in this struggle, Keith
Clever, boy! Words do have a way of slipping from my brain on a regular basis. As long as they land on the paper, I’m good.
Thank, Nancy, I’ll let you know if one of your sneaky words lands on my paper!
Most excellent! You do have a way with words Keith!!
…except the ones that hide!
Thanks so much, Suzette.
Yes, lol!
I had a similar issue with a word today. I was working on a memoir in which I mention my mother taking in two feral cats. I didn’t know the correct spelling of the word “feral,” and my spell checker suggested a different word, which I didn’t think was right. I asked ChatGPT and got the correct spelling in seconds. Thank you for sharing this story.
So, your word went feral!
Love it or hate it, today’s technology does have it’s uses!
Amen!
And so much worse when it’s the name of someone talking to you, and you’re drawing a total blank. 🙁
That’s happened to me a few times, it’s so embarrassing – I’ve called people by the wrong name too, and that’s really awkward!
Wonderful! The hunt for the perfect word can be frustrating, can’t it.
Don’t I know it?!!
Hi Keith – sadly it is happening more and more often … I fumble around and eventually I get it – or make something up! Cheers and happy word hunting – Hilary
I think there are too many words!
Ha Ha … tell that to those Medieval chroniclers and no doubt earlier and later wordsmiths …thank goodness for wordy expressions – cheers Hilary
Haha! Cleverly written as always 👍🏼👏🏼👍🏼
That’s so kind, thank you, Sadje!
You’re always welcome
