Seriously?

39Here we are, sir, what do you think?

What do I think? Seriously? It’s the ugliest building I’ve ever seen!

But I’m certain it will meet all your requirements, sir.

It’s hideous, why did they build it here?

Well sir, it was an unusual plot of land that provided the developer with an opportunity to build an apartment block that was different, unique.

Well, I don’t see the point of it.

Come along here, sir, and you will.

I don’t believe what I’m seeing!

What do you mean, sir?

Well, people live in square rooms not triangular ones!

It’s a little quirky I confess, sir, but unique in a modernist fashion.

I’d need a three-sided table and wedge-shaped chairs!

But surely, sir,  it would enable you to make a statement, demonstrate a desire to stand out from the crowd by not conforming to the normal.

Wow, look at that slope!

Think of the money you’ll save, sir.

How so?

Well, sir, you won’t need to pay gym membership! Just walk up and down there a few times a day.

It gets worse!

In what way, sir?

There are no windows at the rear.

The designer felt the view would not be in keeping with the apartments image, sir, so he commissioned an artist to paint virtual windows on the interior walls offering beautiful views of the countryside. Shall we enter the building, sir?

No.

Why not, sir?

I’m not interested.

Are you certain sir?

Sirtain!

Great write Keith. It does sound unusual…but unusual especially in a place to call home has its limits.

I don’t think I would be either! Good take Keith
I saw a bungalow for sale for £700,000 on the internet that looked like one storey from the front but was actually 3 (you may have seen it too). I hated it! Absolutely nothing appealed inside. But no doubt it will be of interest to someone (not that we have that kind of money anyway)

I didn’t see it, but it sounds really odd! Almost an optical illusion. No, not for me!

    Haha! I’d agree with him.

Great read, Keith. True, it’s ugly but with a charming interior and a killer view, I’d live there in a heartbeat!

Do you have pictures from inside? It is quirky!

Yes, someone who likes boats maybe – Popeye or Jack Sparrow!

Great work, Keith. I’m glad Sir didn’t end up with a wedgie. 😉

Fun story. At least the building makes use of a rather oddly shaped plot, but I agree, it’s not pleasant on the eyes.

An excellent example of spin, Keith.
Why, I almost thought I was listening to a politician!
And I love the force of that final ‘Sirtain’.
    Great story.

It had me spinning in Sircles! Thanks so much, Jenne.

Interesting – full stop! I don’t think I’d add a superlative when describing it!

I like the idea of painted on windows with a view. Ingenious. Great dialogue – I can just hear the estate agent struggling to make a sale.

Amusing as always, surr, but personally I’d prefer this to little boxes made of ticky tacky.
Don’t tell me you don’t like Toblerone!

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings February 11, 2024 / 15:15

I love Toblerone, when I visited Egypt I gave the pyramids a miss and bought a giant Toblerone at the airport instead!

But you know, those virtual windows never need cleaning! (Sir)

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings February 12, 2024 / 10:07

I hadn’t thought of that, I might replace my real ones with virtual ones!

Do it and you’ll never look back. Trust me!
