…for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt.

She sits on the floor. Screwed paper surrounds her. Why can’t she put her thoughts into words? She hurls the pad and pen across the room, drops her head to her knees and sobs.
Another business trip, he’d said. He no longer works here, said his boss. Her suspicions were right, all along.
The upset of minutes ago turns to anger. She leaps to her feet, and smashes a chair against the wall. Books fly across the room.
Before leaving, she sticks a note to the empty fridge, its contents scattered across the floor.
Everything’s gone, it says.
Everything, she mutters.

Wow, Keith! I love what you did here! 👏🏼
Thanks so much, Nancy.
A sad story for a suitably rainy January day. Life can be hard sometimes.
The sun’ll come out, tomorrow – for us and her, hopefully!
Wow. One angry lady. I get it.
Justifiably so. Thanks, Denise.
Not his vintage car collection too?
Perish the thought!
This was perfectly written, Keith. From her frustration to her despair to her anger. Good for her. Move forth, Sister. He is a POS.
Thanks so much, Dale, she’ll not be defeated, that’s for sure!
No, she will not!
Wow! You really took a creative side road from this photo that to me looks so cozy!
Thanks, Christine. Looks can be deceiving!
She did right, that’s what he deserved.
Indeed she did!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Lots of strong emotions!
From one extreme to another.
Well done, my friend! This was palpable stuff!!!
Kind of you to say so Na’ama, thank you.
T’was, though! So I did say so!
It’s such a sad story, and told way too often.
I fear it is. Thanks, Mimi.
Dear Keith,
I could feel the dispair and anger in this. It’s time to move on. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Indeed it is. Thank you, Rochelle.
Great take on the prompt Keith. She learned the truth. The truth can be a hard pill to swallow.
Thanks, Suzette. It was the moment she’d waited for and dreaded in equal measure.
Well encapsulated Keith. Yes indeed.
What I liked most about this story were the words, “Before leaving”. She’s angry, and rightfully so, but rather than steam or plot or sink into a self-serving ‘why me’ mindset, she asserts her power and takes control. All in two words and I think that’s pretty cool.
Thanks for your generous words. You’ve summed it up perfectly, Michael.
A chapter is closing. For both of them.
…and another one opens. Thanks, Sandra.
Sad when they cheat this way.
Great that she found out.
Now, wait till he comes & sees what she has done!
I’d like to be a fly on the wall!
Well, Keith! Not your usual cheerful, pun-filled bit! But a wonderful story, masterfully told. All my sympathies to the heroine.
They do say that change is as good as a rest! Thanks so much, Linda.
Keith this room has that kind of look to it. I like where you took your story.
Thanks, Lisa. It offered so many possibilities!
You’re welcome, and yes, it does!
Hi Keith, I like how you managed to convey the lonely rage in her anger.
Thanks so much, James.
it’s always sad to have a relationship that ends on a bad note. but sometimes there’s no other choice.
The anger spurred her on to break it off. It will help her get over the hurt I hope. A wonderfully written very intense story, Keith!
Great buildup and emotional eruption, which is hard to do in only 100 words.
Her instincts had been right all along. Perhaps, her frustrtaion was that she didn’t listen to them.
It can’t be anything but horrific to discover what she did. A powerful write, Keith.
Have a good weekend,
Isadora 😎
Excellent write!
I like where you took the prompt and the journey of her emotions and final act.
