…for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt.
.
I’m a little busy right now, so rather than miss out, I’ve fiddled around with a piece I wrote for FF in 2017!.

.
.
Jane, I’ve found the perfect place! It needs a little touching up, but I know how much you enjoy keeping everything just so.
Some filler here, a lick of paint there. You’ll need to bang in some picture hooks.
There are a few broken windows but you’ll easily fix them.
Several kitchen cupboards have collapsed so I’ll get you some screws.
The roof leaks slightly, but don’t worry, I’ll hold the ladder for you. You love building Lego with the kids, so repairing the chimney will be a doddle!
Me? Oh, I’ll plug in the television!
What do you think?

Haha! Still an attractive offer
I think so! Thanks, Sadje.
You’re welcome 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I don’t know what Jane thinks or thought. I know what I think! 🙁
I’d rather not know!
Sad to see how the numbers have dropped since 2017, but it does make reading all the entries a more realistic proposition! I’m not sure Jane will appreciate this ‘gift’! Merry Christmas to you and yours Keith.
I looked even further back and found an FF prompt with 106 participants!
Thanks so much, Iain, season’s greetings to you and your family.
Keith, your amusing piece paints a vivid picture of a “perfect place” that needs a bit more than just a touch-up! The playful tone and clever use of humor to describe the various issues, from broken windows to collapsed cupboards, create a delightful sense of irony.
~David
Thanks so much, David. A touch-up to one is a major renovation to another! I can only imagine what her response would have been!
Busy, eh? Nicely done, I say. And I dunno what Jane’s husband’s name is but he is definitely not the type of handyman I like 😉
Methinks Jane might take up the offer but there will be less room for him once she’s done!
Thanks, Dale. I dunno either, but what she’d have called him would probably be unprintable here! Let’s play it safe with Useless Eustace!
That would be best to keep it PG-13 😉
a fixer-upper!
A fix-up-a-lotta!
That’s how division of labour works
Absolutely, Neil!
I love how these non-able handymen make plans for their more-able wives. I’m grateful for my very handy-about-the-house husband. Can’t believe how we ever managed to cope reading 80+ entries on Fri Fic. But we did, and it’s entertaining to go through the names and notice how many fell by the wayside without our noticing. Good one Keith – and glad you were able to participate.
Thanks so much, Sandra. I agree, so many we shared stories and poems with simply disappeared, often without warning.
She has all the ideas and he has to make them happen. Oy.
I’m not entirely sure what’s going to happen – if anything at all!
Jane might need some “real” help with this fixer upper. Nice on Keith!
To true, Suzette!
Keith not sure if Jane will be laughing or crying when she hears the question. I enjoyed your fun story and your adjusted dialect while telling it. Happy Holidays to You and Yours!
Goodness only knows! Thanks so much, Lisa, Seasons Greetings!
You’re most welcome, Santa 🙂
Just plug in the TV? Uh… I think not. Well done.
It would have been better if he’d offered to try out the new sofa as well!
The perfect place to condemn! Cute story!
That’s true, but he’s got bigger plans! Thanks so much.
Somehow I do not think she’s going to take you up on the offer.
Really? I consider that to be a fair apportionment!
Such a caring & helpful partner! 🙂
The TV Channel better play something nice & supportive!
Happy Holidays! Enjoy 🙂
Thanks so much, Anita.
I think so. He might make her a cup of tea as well!
Dear Keith,
Tis the season and I understand busy. Always nice to have the golden oldies to fall back on. Nicely written, although I think he’d better duck. I have a feeling something heavy is about to be hurled in his direction. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
…and I have a feeling you are right Rochelle!
Strangely familiar! I was the DIY person in both my marriages – my fault for marrying one man who was all thumbs, then another who had been (Note the past tense!) able always to ‘get a man in’.
Very clever offer, Keith. Did she agree?
There are flip jobs and then there are FLIP JOBS. I think this one falls into the latter category. Jane would likely agree. Well done, Keith!
WordPress ate my reply… trying again. Good for her if he keeps out of it and is OK with everything she does and orders to get the place fixed.
A perfect reason to walk away 😅
I think when Janes is finished renovating, he might find himself out on the street for the next few months.
This guy sure knows how to spin it!
Happy holidays and a Merry time to all during this festive season.
You may consider a visit to Literally Stories https://literallystories2014.com an interest read. The site is featuring a rerun of their favourite seasonal stories, for the one on each day over the holiday. You may enjoy the variety. Well, it is the time to be jolly.
Since I’m definitely not handy with a hammer, It would be more inclined to smack him with a fly swatter than to do all that work 🙂
Not a bad idea, Linda!
