By coincidence, I watched Sweeney Todd : The Demon Barber of Fleet Street the other night, so thought I’d weave my tale around the main man and his cohort, Mrs Lovett!

With a name like Todd, it was no surprise that he grew up to become a barber, but thankfully not a demon one! He was good at it, and when his boss decided to retire, he purchased the shop.
He wanted to give it an unusual name. Hairazor sounded good. Todd and razors? Perhaps not. The red and white pole had to go, they dated back to when barbers carried out blood-letting!
His surname was Chester. His wife who worked at the pie shop down the road, had a cute habit of creeping up behind him, stroking his hair and saying ‘Oh, Chester!’
He decided to call it O’Chester in her honour, he knew his Mrs would love it!
I often go there for a short back and sides. That’s all I need because I’ve got nothing on top! Todd gives it an excellent polish though!
He’s a bit of a joker. Even when he’s shaving people he manages to raise a laugh!
He once told me I had more hair growing from my ears than from my top-not and suggested he give them a trim. As his device was busily buzzing, he said they were laden with wax. He offered to poke pieces of string into them which I could ignite when I needed to see in the dark!
I didn’t let him trim my nasal tufts for fear of what he might suggest!
My mate Matt was having a trim the other day. I’ve not seen him since.

Nicely done. There used to be a beauty shop in Detroit called ‘Curl Up and Dye’.
I’ve heard some odd names but that beats them all!
Funny and oops!
Thanks, Beth – and happy birthday!
🪅
Haha! Good one.
Thanks, Sadje!
You’re always welcome
Always deliciously entertaining Keith! A salon near here is named – “Untangled.” Another is, “A Cut Above,” and “Crazy Curls!” ☺️
Thanks so much – how on earth do they come up with these names? !!!
I think they pay some PR people a lot of money!! 🤑
Sounds like it should have been called The Little Shop of Hairors. 😉
I like that! Cheers, Doug.
Always enjoyable!
Thanks so much!
Fun story, Keith.
Who knew having a haircut was such a dangerous business?
Hair salons and barbers are filled with dangerous weapons!
Lol!! I am laughing Keith!! Awesome.
Great, thank you, Suzette!
LOLOLOL this is great Kieth!
Aww, thanks so much, Belladonna!
You’re welcome!!
We have a shop here called Shear Ecstasy. Fun story.
That sounds really special!
You always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh, Keith; that’s a wonderful gift. I see some of your other readers gave the names of hair salons near them and your story inspired me to do the same. Near me there are a couple of cleverly-named hair salons, including the one I go to which is Shear Art Studio. There’s also Everything’s Hair, Knots Salon, A Cut Above, and my personal favorite, The Clip Joint!
Thanks for another great story, Keith!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Nancy. Those really are some amazing names, especially Clip joint!
Fun as ever, Keith.
One in Glasgow called Ally Barber.
Thanks! Do you have to stand outside the door and shout Open Sesame?
Oh oh. What’s happened to Matt? Went in for a polish and someone got over-zealous with the buffing? (groan).
Funny story, Keith, and an enjoyable wander through the comments, too – weird and wonderful hairdressers’ names. Here are my contributions: Hairphoria, Shed Your Locks (yes it’s in a shed in her back yard).
I’m sure Matt will show up….I hope 😂
So clever. A local author and comedian, Lorna Landvik, wrote a great book called “Patty Jane’s House of Curl” (1995). I think you’d like her humor!
Great Six!
