Let me attempt to read it to you!

.

As soon as I saw this week’s picture a story appeared in my mind. I was so excited. I dashed to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee,  returned to my desk, and as my hands hovered over the keyboard …  I found I’d forgotten it.

I hate it when that happens, one minute your mind’s erupting like a lively volcano (I climbed up Mount Etna last Sunday – or was it Saturday? Another story for another day if I remember) or bubbling like a witch’s what-not. Then, it suddenly resembles a deflated balloon or a squashed empty box.

I overheard two wrinklies having a chat the other day. She said she was having trouble with her memory and kept forgetting things. He asked how long it had been going on for. How long’s what been going on for, she asked.

Talking of oldies, I have an elderly friend, Celine. She spent some time in China. She’s become very fragile of late. Poor Celine.

Where was I? Oh yes. As soon as I saw this week’s picture a story appeared… oh dammit, I’ve said that already!

Ah, it’s back!

It was the day Charlie and Claudia had been waiting for. A new home, a new start. The last few years had not been kind to them. They should have known better than to carry their box of treasures on the car’s roof rack. There was no way the fickle finger of fate was going to….

Ding-ding. You’ve reached your 250-word limit.

Murphy is always on spot to see that things don’t go as planned, even making you forget the story line 😄🤣😂

Welcome back Keith! The pun-iverse is back in order. 10 out 10 for puns on this one!; and of course all puns in ten did!

That’s a fun way to use 250 words, and your topic hits home with me – I know all about getting to the keyboard with a great idea only to find it’s vanished. I hear some writers employ Muses to prod them along. That sounds useful. Now I want to know how Charlie and Claudia are going to get on. That fickle finger sounds ominous. 😳

Wonderful ramble, Keith, and one I can identify with!
I had ‘a great idea’ for a story the other day and knew I woudn’t forget it.
So much for ‘knowing’ – not even the suspicion of an idea of what it was about.
    And i love the ending.
    Anyway, welcome back.

Ideas and boxes of treasure and Poor Celine (good one!) are all fragile indeed. Your stories always bring a smile.
