“I wish I could see into the future”, said Jane.
“You can’t”, said Molly, “but I know someone who can. Claire”.
“Claire the Voyant?” joked Jane.
“Seriously, she inherited a crystal ball from her late gran and it came complete with a set of psychic powers. Ring this number and arrange a sitting”.
With nothing to lose, she thought she’d give her a try.
‘
Jane rang Claire’s doorbell.
“Who’s there?” crackled a voice through a speaker.
That’s not a good start she thought!
.
Once inside, Claire sat one side of the table, and Jane the other. Between them, the crystal ball.
After a short warm-up including forecasting tomorrow’s weather and predicting the winner of a one-horse race, she got down to business.
The ball suddenly started getting cloudy.
“That’s odd,” said Claire. She tapped it and then shook it but it just got darker.
She cupped her hands around the ball, closed her eyes and started muttering some weird words. Jane stifled her giggles!
“I see something”, shouted Claire, “something terrible. I can’t tell you, I can’t. Let’s call it a day and have a cup of coffee”.
Jane remained calm. “Just tell me”.
“The thing is, your husband is going to … no, I can’t!”
Jane stared into Claire’s eyes.
“Just tell me”, she said again, slowly.
“Okay, your husband’s going to die”, snapped Claire. “He’s going to be murdered. There you are, I’ve said it”.
Jane remained calm.
“I know”, she said, “but will I get away with it?”

Love the ending. 👏🏼
I’m really pleased, thanks, Sadje!
You’re most welcome
Besides liking/enjoying your creative stories and the recordings (which I rubber stamp on each post), I particularly take notice of the graphics you provide. I enlarged the crystal ball and what I saw …. well if I were you i wouldn’t go for your usual walk around and snap any pictures. 🙁 🙁 🙁
That’s so kind of you. This graphic was fairly simple. Often I spend more time creating them than I do the story, particularly when it comes to my Friday Froggies!
Thanks for the warning. I’m going to be stuck for something to post on Wordless Wednesday!
Oh, that’s not the ending. I was expecting, well done, Keith!!!.
**Love the humor in the name “Claire The Voyant”…Lol!!
Nor was Claire! Thanks so much, Suzette.
Lol…Claire is not so clairvoyant!
(SOL*)
How good a story?
Even when I started looking for the twist, didn’t get it ’til I read it.
* smiled out loud
I heard your *smile from here! Thanks, Clark.
Great ending!
Thanks, Brenda!
What an ending❤️
I’m really pleased you liked it!
Hopefully, the police don’t look to Claire for help in solving crimes.
Soothsayer/Client confidentiality?
❤️
Back at you, Beth!
Excellent story, Keith.
I don’t suppose I should be smiling, but it’s such an unexpected, but totally logical ending! Wonderful.
That’s so kind of you. Smile all you like, Jenne!
Or even ‘Jenne’! You made me smile again, Keith.
Did your crystal ball tell you that Jenne’s real name is Nancy, me old clairvoyant?
Whoops! Duly corrected!
OMG. I didn’t see that coming. I’m sure the clairvoyant didn’t either.
I suspect not! Cheers, Denise,
Allow me to suggest the cops will predict the murderer in this one horse race. Fun piece, as always, Keith.
I suspect they might! Thanks, Doug.
Loved this Keith. Great surprise ending.
I’m pleased you liked it, Di, thank you!
You are most welcome
A crystal ball that forecasts tomorrow’s weather?
Gotta be a market for that (except in Scotland).
The Met Office ought to get one, it might help them get it right more often!
Superb curveball ending, Keith.
Great set up that really tickled my fancy!
Delighted to have caught you unawares, Nancy!
Dun dun dun
Cheers, Maria!
That last is always the important part, isn’t it.
Indeed!
