She thought she was alone, but how wrong she was for day and night she was followed,  watched, her every move observed.

He never showed himself, moving from doorway to doorway, watching from coffee bars and hiding in crowds; at night, peering through cracks in closed curtains and watching as she moved from room to room, no, she was never alone.

*

She led a happy life, her social diary was crammed full, always the first to be invited to parties and never short of invitations to the theatre and restaurants and while there were men in her life, she preferred the company of several, rather than the commitment of one.

She didn’t want to run the risk of entering into a steady relationship again, the last one was alright at first, not particularly exciting, a little dull in fact, but as time went on he began controlling her, becoming unnecessarily suspicious, jealous of her other friends and constantly monitoring her every move, domination on a grievous scale.

When it became intolerable she asked him to leave but strangely, he didn’t argue, he didn’t beg her to change her mind, and promised that she would never see him again and whatever happened in her life he would be out there protecting her; quite what he meant, she never really understood, but he left, and to this day, years later, she’s not seen him or heard anything about him.

But unknown to her he is still out there, still part of her life, she, a part of his; a life he lives in the shadows.

Well done for the start of a thriller tale. “He” needs to get a life of his own, but obsession usually doesn’t for allow that.

That’s right. You’re the one that’s calling the shots on this, so you could smarten him up. 😉

I like the intrigue Keith…I am sure you will find ways to connect the upcoming and unknown parts of the plot. Sounds like fun, actually!!

      Enjoyed this Six.
Both as the story presented in six sentences and as an implied technical (story telling) challenge.

Love the backing track, Keith. You know how to set a mood – perfect for the intrigue and suspense you are building.
    Looking forward to Part 2.
