Two hundred and fifty words precisely!

A short story for The Unicorn Challenge which is brought to us by Jenne Gray and C.E.Ayr.

I arrived home from a wonderful camping trip last evening and I’ll be posting photos on Tuesday. I’m dying to get writing again so, here goes….

You see that shack, the one over there? Well, I was having a Robin Hood day here in the woods with my bow and arrows, looking out for some rich people so I could rob them and give to the poor.  I was a kid at the time of course, it’s not something I’d indulge in nowadays!

I didn’t manage to find anyone to steal from, but I did come across a key on the ground, and guess what? It only fitted the lock on the shack! It was in a right old state inside. Clearly no one had been there for years, so I claimed it for myself.

I used to meet my friends there. We kept it to ourselves though, not even our mums and dads knew about it.

A few years later when I’d become a desirable teenager, I took one of my girlfriends there. That was the day she lost something, something very special! She didn’t mind though, she said it was the most wonderful afternoon she’d ever had. She didn’t dare tell her parents!

We lost contact after that. I’m told she had a kid, and no, it’s not mine in case you’re wondering; well, I assume not!

I dropped by the shack just now and it’s much as I’d left it. I was having a poke around for old times’ sake, and suddenly, there it was, the lucky charm my girlfriend lost that day, the one her parents had given her for her sixteenth!

The building looks like it has seen a lot of history of all kinds. I’m glad he found her charm, and nice misdirection on what she lost 🙂 Glad you had fun on your camping trip, Keith.

Ah! For the days when we were all carefree and bulletproof.

Fun story with an excellent twist.
