Oh look
Where?
Down there.
Oh yeah.
It looks like a fanny pack.
I beg your pardon!
That’s an American name for a bum bag.
A what?
A little bag for bits and pieces.
I’d leave it alone.
Very funny. I see what you did there, leaf it alone, it’s surrounded by…
No seriously, you should never touch unattended bags.
Why, it may contain money or even some sweets.
No. I’m rigging 999 and when they ask which service I require I’ll say the bomb squad.
Don’t be a wimp, I’m picking it up. Let’s see what’s inside.

Welcome to the Ten o’clock News. A loud explosion was heard in the city this morning and minutes later bank notes and sweets started falling from the sky. Our reporter Manna von Heffon is at the scene.

Of course it would be reporter “Manna…from ‘heaven'” that would carry such as tale. Marvelous storytelling Keith,

An explosion of bank notes and sweets… sounds like something my Supervillains would do, Keith! 😁
I loved the characterisation.

Lolly and lollies raining down. Hilarious, Keith. (Lollies are what Australians call sweets.)

One tries one’s best! I almost didn’t post it thinking it was a bit too silly, which is why I was a little late to the party, but it seems I can uncross my fingers now!

You surpassed yourself this week, Keith.
And, like the others, I nearly choked on the reporter’s name!

I honestly thought this was too silly to post, so the reaction it’s got has come as quite a surprise! Thanks so much, C.E.

I have never heard the term “bum bag”; it made me laugh. I have heard the term fanny pack. Anyway, fun post, Keith.

The term fanny pack makes us laugh as it refers to a certain part of the female anatomy! So, laughs all round!

Funny thing about reading Comments: sometimes, especially when I’m reading with an eye to technique*, I’ll catch a line or a joke that I originally missed. In this case it was the reporter’s name. (v funny)
On the other side of (my) Reader brain, creating a dialogue using only italics (and non-italics). very cool
fave line: Very funny. I see what you did there, leaf it alone
Damn! Create a joke where there was not one (in the original line).
… better keep this short, I know how unruly Commentors get when I write, all hilarious and whimsical
lol
