…for Friday Fictioneers which is hosted as usual by Rochelle.

I may have slept, I don’t know. I’m so excited.
I crawl from my tent and look around. There are thousands here. The atmosphere’s electric!
It’s starting to rain. It’s pouring. The ground’s turning to mud. A cheer goes up, after all, what’s a festival without mud?
I join the crowd as we move toward the arena. Nearly there.
I hear guitars being tuned, drums bashed and mikes checked. One-two testing, one-two!
It’s almost time. Ready?
Suddenly the sheer volume drives all thoughts from my mind. I sway, swing, spin, sing. I look stupid, but who cares? Nobody!
Festival….enjoy!.

A bit old for this sort of behaviour now, but I did enjoy the festival atmosphere when younger – and yes, you just had to go with it! Nicely done Keith.

Sounds a bit like Woodstock. And, as Beth said, sorta’, go big or go home.

What more do you want in life? When wellies and music take over you are stuck with the atmosphere.

For some reason – forgotten now – my youth never included a festival.

Dear Keith,
With the rain coming down I hope the electronics are well sheltered. You’ve certainly captured the spirit of the rock concert. Applause.

Thanks so much, Rochelle, creating an atmosphere in just a handful of words was a bit of a challenge!

I remember those days of electricity filling the air.
You can keep the mud, though.
Thanks for the flash back Keith.

Thanks, Dawn. The biggest annual festival in the UK is Glastonbury, and it’s famous for its mud!

Keith, excellent job of capturing the festival vibe. I can see you there, in the mud swaying to the music with the rest of the hippies. I bet you were such a wild child in the 60s.
