Silly!

For the Min Min Prompt which requires us to start our piece with ‘The world thought it had seen everything until ….’

The world thought it had seen everything until it turned upside down one day.

My blood rushed to my head. It was as if I was walking on the ceiling, except I wasn’t because the ceiling was below me.

My phone rang, it was my mate in Australia. “What goin’ on cobber?” he asked. “everything’s the bloody wrong way up, including me!”

“I’ve no idea,” I said, “it’s the same here, it’s like I’ve got magnetic feet, I’m worried I’m going fall down into space!”.

I decided to have an early night, even though the sun seemed to be rising not setting. I tucked myself in tightly, I didn’t want to topple out.

When I woke up everything was the right way around again. “It must have been a silly dream,” I said to myself, “yes, it had to be”.

My phone rang, it was my mate in Australia. “I had a silly dream last night cobber,” he said, “at least I think it was a dream…”

The world thought it had seen everything until it turned on its side one day.

I hate it when that happens! Nicely told, Keith. And a fitting nod to our host.

damn! I always believed in the clockwise/counterclockwise character of toilets being subject to the hemisphere of their floors and function
but someone/somewhere in search results seemed to suggest it was a myth

So naturally, I stopped reading until I found an article that reassured me that, yes, toilets in New Zealand flush backwards (or something)

(I will maintain the right to the research behavior described above, at least in the context of my writing… fiction. But it serves as an uncomfortable reminder about how we humans (writes and others) tend to relate ourselves to the world around us… confirmation bias being the current term trende)
