The first thing I do when I get out of bed every morning is to say “hello, how are you?” as I pass the mirror on the way to the bathroom. I live alone you see, so my reflection is the nearest thing I gave to a flatmate!
I got up a bit later than usual this morning and I was feeling a little worse for wear having spent last night in a pub with my drinking pals. I crept along the hall and greeted the mirror in a less-than-enthusiastic way.
“Mornin’, ‘ow are you?” I groaned.
“Fine, clearly a lot better than you” came back a reply.
I stopped, staggered, pinched myself then grabbed a door handle in an attempt to remain upright.
“That’s it!” I muttered to my less-than-attractive reflection, “I’m definitely joining Jim on his Dry January campaign”.
“Let me make you a coffee,” said a voice and I turned to see Jim standing in the kitchen doorway. I’d forgotten he’d stayed in my spare room last night!

You deliver humor with great style in your stories, Keith. Made me chuckle at your reaction to your “reflection’s” aka Jim’s response. Well played twist! Fun read!!

LOL, I think if that would have happened to me on the way TO the bathroom, I’d be cleaning up a puddle! Well done, Keith! 💞

They do say, a hair of the dog, ie another drink does the trick. Can’t say it works for me though!
Have a great ’23, Gillena.

Keith that was so clever and delightful. Dry January may be just the thing some need to get on a path to something other than the pub.

Thanks, Lisa, I have to say that I was not a fan of it when I ran my own pub!

You’re welcome. Everybody stayed home for a month? They probably drank twice as much in February, didn’t they?

Oh my, I don’t think I’d like to hear my mirror talk to me. I’m sure the frank honesty would send me in a tizzy. Love where the image took you.
