I asked Bob why he didn’t sweep his steps. He said he likes to keep it that way to remind him of all the wonderful things he’s done of late.
“The popcorn bag’s from when I watched an amazing movie, that receipt’s from a fabulous shopping trip, the bottle top is from a very tasty tipple and the autumn leaves remind me of my favourite season”.
“You’re talking garbage,” I said.
“Worth a try” he laughed, “I’ll sweep it up … and down!”
He was glad he did because he uncovered the winning lotto ticket he lost the other day!

Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Roger Bultot for the picture.

He should have left it there to remind him how lucky he is
That’s a thought!
Good for him
Indeed! Thanks, Sadje.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great find for Bob!!
A nice start to the New Year!
Exactly!!
Silver linings… all of them.
So it seems, Sandra!
Lost my earlier comment. Or did I? Anyway, silver linings everywhere.
No Sandra, for some peculiar reason yours and Plaridel’s comments always land in my spam tray, but fear not, it’s the first thing I check every day!
So cute and funny
Thanks, Beth!
Ha ha ha! Nice one, Keith 🙂
Thanks so much, Sunra!
A perfect find for the new year! All the best for 2023 Keith
Thanks, Iain, have a great ’23!
It is all in the wind, you never know what will blow onto your steps. A winning lottery ticket, now what’s the chances!
If only! Cheers James.
Good take Keith.
Thanks, Di!
You’re welcome
Lucky him. Seems he is luckier than he realized.
If it wasn’t for my encouragement he’d never have found it!
Dear Keith,
I looking at the clutter on my desk wondering what I might find if I tidy it up. Good for Bob and the lotto ticket. (Pretty sure I dono’t have one of those.)
Shalom,
Rochelle
It’s amazing what you find during a good tidy! I don’t do the lotto either so it’s a no-no for me too!
Bob’s a good spin doctor. You always leave me smiling, Keith.
Thanks so much, Lisa, mission accomplished it seems!
🙂
If you can’t find something, clean up!
Something I’m sure you are familiar with Mimi!
Lucky him!
Indeed! Cheers, Danny.
No more sweeping for Bob! Now if only I were that lucy…
Me too, Tannille! Where’s my broom?
Awesome twist at the end! I wish my cleaning projects netted such a win! 💞💞💞
We can but wish! Cheers, Dawn.
A rewarding discovery, but I otherwise appreciate his sense of humor. 🙂
If only I was as laid back!
Why on earth didn’t he look for that ticket earlier?!
I wonder, I’ll have to ask him!
Haha…fun ending!
I like a bit of fun! Thanks so much, Dawn!
I think. I’m the only one who saw these as uprights rather than stairs. Something’s wrong with my perception!
Anyway, good one–I love the ending 🙂
Thanks so much, Linda. Maybe you saw them correctly and we all got it wrong!
UMMmmmmm–no. All I can see now is the stairs 🙂
That’s the kind of cleanup I love, finding a lotto ticket is the cherry on top! Great story 🙂
Thank you. I’m yet to have such luck!
Me neither!
Good old Bob – no more sweeping up for him me thinks 🙂
Nope!
you’d never know, sometimes you get lucky 🙂
I’m eagerly awaiting the day!
A nice sense of humour.
Thanks so much!
A fun conversation, not at all predictable.
Thanks so much!
I wonder why everyone sweeps their stairs all of a sudden? They must have read your story.😁
But of course! Cheers!
I enjoyed this. By the way… is there any cash available🙂
If I’d seen your request yesterday you might have been in luck. Sorry!
Good one! Such a rich ending. Loved “You’re talking garbage”
Thanks so much – I hope that’s not a comment on my writing!
Your writing is a treasure and I assume that line was intentional word play.
Some folks just can’t lose!
I wish I was one of them! Cheers. Dora.
Oh this is clever. What is one man’s trash is another’s treasure, or buried treasure at least. Nicely done.
So they say! Thanks, Laurie.
Thank you Keith , always the lifting cheer in your writing. All the best for the coming year.
That’s kind of you to say so, thanks so much Susan.
I have me a sudden urge to sweep! 😉
One person’s garbage is another person’s memories…nicely done (and I’m hoping when I clean up this evening I’ll find the winning Mega Millions ticket!)
