Blast, I’ve missed the tram by three minutes. They are every thirty minutes so I’ll have to wait twenty-seven minutes for the next one.
Just a minute, there’s a bus from the next street which is just three minute’s walk away, and there’s one due in nine minutes. It takes four minutes longer, but it’ll still arrive several minutes before the tram which is now due in twenty-six minutes.
Walking there would take roughly forty-five minutes, jogging about thirty-nine minutes, or running, around twenty-eight minutes.
Actually, there’s a pub five minutes away that opens in four minutes. Let’s go there instead!

Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and providing the photo.

An excellent decision

Yahoo, the shortcut to the pub will mean you don’t get to your destination in time, if or maybe not. Have fun, you know; one for the road.

Very good decision, he will certainly miss the next tram, too, but won’t mind so much when he calculates how long it takes to pour the next beer.

Apparently, it takes one minute and four seconds!

Now you need to calculate the cost of a tram ticket, bus ticket, and compare that to a stop at the pub. 😉

Dear Keith,
The numbers sent my head into a tailspin. All that calculation for a cold one? He must be very thirsty. 😉 Thanks for the chuckles.

By the way, is the name of the pub- “The Revenant”?
You can look for the clue about the keys! 🙂

Indeed they do Anita! The pub in this tale isn’t The Revenant, unlike the one in my continuing story, fortunately!

Oh how I love your math. I can imagine someone who takes public transportation does those kinds of calculations all of the time. And of course the equation is perfectly balanced by the pub. Happy New Year Keith!
