Not long I fear, it’s looking a bit battered I have to say!

Hi Keith – Durnstein looks very pretty … while the rest are awesome pictures … sounds a wonderful experience. Dinner – veal escalope … can’t work out the dessert! Cheers Hilary

It was such a contrast to the cities we visited. Quite right with the main, it was indeed a wiener schnitzel. I can’t remember what the other plate was!

Having travelled far and wide I thought it was time I visited places closer to home, and I’m so glad I did!

An idyllic place! Love the images of the buildings and their doors.
That wide-angle photo of the lush green space against the backdrop of the water/river and the mountains in whisps of cloud cover further in the distance is spectacular!
    Thank you for sharing Keith.

I know how much you love doors, Suzette! The landscape was taken during a coffee break on the way to Saltzburg.

Wonderful pictures. The buildings are beautiful. What is the reason/meaning of the locks on the fence?

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 2, 2022 / 16:34

Thanks, Patricia. They are love locks. Couples write their initials on them then throw the key into the river to ensure everlasting love!

Keith – looks like a great place to visit and how cool to visit where the sound of music was filmed
Oh and the small wooden figures remind me of some that my husband’s grandparents used To have

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 2, 2022 / 16:41

It was, and you are constantly reminded of it when in the palace garden, by the fountain and other places that were used. The figures are a string puppet version of the film, which was of course based on a true story.

        How cool

That little town with the blue tower is gorgeous! As are your photos of it.
I would love to visit Salzburg some day.

  16. Emille's avatar Emille November 2, 2022 / 21:30

Oh, am falling in love all over again with Austria! The light blue tower is so uplifting. Is the abbey the greyish brown castle looking building complex? Also love the view down take on the houses, and the foggy clouds in front of that mountain range. Thanks for sharing these beautiful views!! Emille (Jesh)

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 3, 2022 / 13:29

Thanks so much, Emille. The Abbey is the gold colour building starting at photo7! The grey one is actually a fortress. It was my first time in Austria and I really enjoyed it.

You saw quite a bit for a first time. I forgot if you also Vienna – beautiful gardens there …
