A forty-second story …

for Friday Fictioneers.

William tried, he really did. He yearned to create something he’d be remembered for, something to make a difference to ‘personkind’.

The inventor of the door-knocker won a no-bell prize, the invention of the spade was groundbreaking. Now it was his turn!

Spinning Wills, they called him because time and time again he became stuck in the metaphorical mud just as he thought he’d succeeded.

Jenny was good at spinning yarns and was well-known for her comedy routines. She heard about William and thought he’d provide excellent material.

And so it was he become famous, but not in the way he intended!

    Creative one 🙂
    They had met their match!

The name of the hero of my story this week is also “William”!

Willliam Tell, nice one! At least he tried! A few years ago a UK skier called Eddie the Eagle claimed fame in the Winter Olympics for being useless – he did quite well from his infamy and had a movie made about him!!

If only William’s talent for the next big thing was as good as his talent for the next bad pun he’d be all set. (I did enjoy the puns, despite just calling them bad – all puns are bad 😉 ).

Ha! I’d measure this by a yardstick but I think I’d only put my foot in my mouth if I tried. And I’d rather hoof it now. 😉

Ah, those one liners, I sink and drown in laughter each time. Perhaps Jenny and William are spun from the same thread and as a comedy duo have their audience in stitches. Light hearted stuff, I like it.

The master of the pun strikes again. Poor Wills though, having the trouble and being mocked, too.

Entertaining story, Keith. Everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame, but there is just no telling what spin that will will take, eh?
