It was late Christmas Eve. Detectives Mason and Jackson were huddled in their car eating mince pies.
“There!” yelled Jackson.
“You made me jump and spill my coffee!” stuttered Mason.
“Look”, Jackson gushed, “up there, red hoodie, white beard”.
“Hey, you’re right!”
Jackson grabbed his phone. “Eyeball eyeball”.
Mason chuckled. “Eyeball eyeball, ha-hal! You watch too many cop shows!”
Undeterred Jackson continued. “Suspect landing on roof of twenty-seven. Go-go-go”.
Police suddenly appeared, surrounding their target and demanding he climb down.
“You can do this mate,” said Mason pulling his cap down over his eyes and settling back into his seat. An excited Jackson rushed down the street.
“Nicolas Claus, (he puffed) in the late hours of today, December (he panted) the twenty-fourth 2020 you are known to have (phew, he blew) gained entry to properties in Tiddlytown by means of their chimneys to deposit gifts. We have reason to believe that you quaffed alcoholic beverages that were left for you at several addresses rendering you intoxicated and unfit to fly your sleigh”.
Fortunately, his tee-total elves were able to continue without him.
Santa had his pilot’s licence revoked for eighteen months but fear not kids, I’m told he’s done a deal with Amazon this year!
