for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt where the given word is Mudlark and the limit, just 52 words. As soon as I saw it I thought of something I wrote many years ago, so here’s a 52-word précis of my somewhat longer yarn!
.

.
Gloria’s obsessed with cleanliness, says I’m dirty, reckons I’d make a great mudlark!
“Wash your hands, off with those muddy shoes, you’ve got a dirty laugh and a filthy mind.”
She complains the garden’s dirty. What? It’s made of dirt!
I’m insisting one song’s played at her funeral. Mud, mud, glorious mud!
.

Want to hear it sung properly?
The Hippopotamus Song (Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud)
.

Very nice good morning giggle!!! Thank you!
The pleasure’s all mine! Thanks, Gypsie.
This is classic stuff.
Thanks so much, Sadje.
You’re welcome
Poor guy! There are people like Gloria. Actually, now that I’ve conquered acrylic painting, the next thing on my wish list is Become a Clean freak — for a limited time, mind you. 🙂
Love that song; you hooked me when you posted it on Fictioneers.
I’ve known an artist or two, but never one that’s a clean freak! I remember one commenting that the mess she made was better than the actual painting!
Now that’s a thought. 😉
Great – and remember the old song too!
Once heard, never to be forgotten! Thanks so much.
Heeheehee — the garden’s dirty, good one. Yes, get a mud scraper and get over it, Gloria.
She’d rather have artificial grass and plastic flowers!
Hi Keith – one of my favourite songs – and remembering early childhood times … cheers Hilary
A song for generation after generation. There’s nothing quite like it!
Nicely done on the lighter side.
Where I dwell, I’ve been declared OCD. I keep telling her, there is not such thing as clean dirt.
Well told, Keith. 🙂
Too right Bill. We all need a bit of dirty dirt so we can be at one with nature (that’s me on the serious side!.
🙂
Oh Keith! I’m glad you pointed out that was mud, for a second I thought the hippopotamus had visited and left you a present! 😀 I say, you can hold a tune though. Good work! 🙂
Haha, now that’s a horrible thought! Thanks, Sunra.
Hm, I wonder how Gloria found her end… This was so much fun, especially listening.
The cleaner one is the lower one’s immunity I always say! Well, that’s my excuse.
LOL. I’ve heard that before…
Hilarious, Keith, and the graphics as much (muddy) fun! Thank you for the introduction to a song that is now dear to my heart! :>)
Pax,
Dora
It’s ‘once heard never to be forgotten’ songs I remember from my childhood! Thanks, Dora.
