Say cheese!

for Wordless Wednesday on a Tuesday and others..

Two weeks ago you joined me at a stately home. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to show you the interior because no photography was allowed.

national-trust-logoRecently I visited another, and this time there was no such ban! The lighting was dim, and I wasn’t permitted to use flash, so they are not the best, but I thought I’d show a you few of the many rooms anyway!

A palatial home. Looks a lot like the one they used in Downton Abby.

That is Highclere Castle, not that far from the house in my pictures. Cheers, Sadje

Hi Keith – centuries! ago … I stayed near there (Corfe Castle way) with some cousins helping out with kids etc …

Amazing dahlias … and what a fascinating place to visit – loved the images of the rooms you took – and how many people frequent those walls – incredible place. Gorgeous garden too … and yes thank you I did enjoy ‘our visit’ … cheers Hilary

Centuries ago – you deserve a painting of yourself on the wall!

I love dahlias and they were beauties. Pleased you enjoyed your wander around Hilary!

Ah ha … they enhanced art work then didn’t they – that’ll suit me!!

Those dahlias must have been glorious … as you say beauties … loved the wander around.

        Cheers Hilary

Didn’t Hyacinth love to visit the stately homes! These photos are gorgeous, thanks for sharing! PS I am addicted to your tv, I just binged Ackley Bridge!

She did – ‘keep up Richard’! Right now I’m addicted to your AGT and the latest series of Law and Order SVU, a bit different from Ackley Bridge!

Such a wonderful place! I was reading the captions and when I got to “Can’t remember…,” I chuckled. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

It’s beautiful, i’d be scared to live in a place that fancy. Knowing me, i’d break something.

I’m so happy that photos were allowed in this place. What magnificence. I’m trying to imagine what a contrast this house would be to a typical shelter of the time in which it was built. I would feel like royalty if I lived there.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings September 9, 2021 / 12:14

An interesting thought. It was built in the 1660s when it was very much ‘them and us’.

What a great old mansion and estate! I particularly like the gardens, so much interest and curiosity there.
I admire the interior of the mansion, too – it’s not my individual taste, but definitely a lot to explore and be intrigued by.

Nor mine, I’m more of an IKEA kinda guy! Fascinating to see how the wealthy lived back then though.

Thank you for hosting the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
