A delight to see summer flowers from the depths of winter in the antipodes. I visited Batemans two years ago – it seems a very long time ago in the depths of this pandemic.

Thanks, Lydia. He did indeed live in India, but he bought Batemans in S E England in 1902 and lived there until his death in 1936.
