A fifty-second story …

for Ragtag Daily Prompt which today is hosted by Christine. The given word is Snitch.

‘Just do it yelled The Boss. He’s a scheming snitch and has to be disposed of before he makes things any worse’.

‘Please don’t’ the quaking prey whimpered as he gazed at the barrel of my 38.  ‘I did nothing wrong’.

I don’t know why, but as I stared into his weeping eyes I believed him.

The pathetic creature shook with fear as I pressed my weapon to his forehead.  I trembled too, for I couldn’t bring myself to do something I felt to be wrong.  I was certain however that The Boss was an evil manipulative and sadistic bastard who would do anything to get his way.  I looked over my shoulder at him, praying he would stand me down. He didn’t.  He nodded; the signal for me to fire.

I fired.

There are times when disobedience is the honest route.  I’d fired.  But not at the pitiful accused.  No, I turned one hundred and eighty degrees before pulling the the trigger.

Someone got his just desserts! But he likely has friends… The shooter best disappear — and hopefully the original prey won’t snitch on him. 😉
