Roundabout 100 words…

for Friday Fictioneers.

What time? I asked.

‘Round about three?’ said Felicity.

We were meeting at the funfair. Yea! I’d not won a goldfish or a cuddly toy for years!

I was a bit late –  took the wrong exit from a roundabout.  Now, where was she?

Someone called my name.

‘Oy, Keef!’

I spun round and about an inch from my nose was a cloud of pink candyfloss. It tilted sideways and Felicity pounced forward giving me a sticky kiss on the cheek.

We got dizzy on the roller-coaster, bobbed up and down on the roundabout and I won a coconut!

Such a perfect day…la-la-la…

ceayr-2-1Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and CEAyr for the picture which I  took the liberty of flipping as we drive on the left here and I’m easily confused!

Kiss the frog to join in the fun!

    …I’m glad I spent it with you…

Oy, Keef, flipping the photo confused the jings out of me!

Sorry ‘ole bean, that was not my intention! All together now….🎵

A perfect day indeed. Extra points for ao may roundabouts in one 100 word story! 🙂

I used to work in Basingstoke which is also known as doughnut city due to the number of roundabouts. People there wear out more left-hand front tyres than anywhere else in the country!

Here, East Kilbride is known as the Polo Mint City after all the roundabouts. Funnily enough, they don’t seem to do anything to help the flow of traffic around the place!

Nice little scene you’ve created this week. Enjoyed reading that one.

    Dear Keef,

I’ll try not to be too roundabout in my comment. Delightful story and love the frog with the pink candy floss. 😉

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Hehe! Glad you liked it – and the frog. Thanks so much Rochelle

No vomiting? All that candy floss too 😀.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 27, 2019 / 16:27

Vomit would have been word 101! Cheers Tannille.

You could have used a semi colon to replace an “and”, then added a “Barf!”
        From Ever-helpful me. 😉

Another delightful tale, Keith. I thought of kissing the frog to see what would turn up, but I’m timid — and already married.

A very good point; it didn’t occur to me! Under the circumstances I’m sure Froggie won’t mind.

How the heck do you flip a photo? Great happy story!

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 27, 2019 / 16:26

If I told you that I’d have to make you the subject of my next crime story Liz! So pleased you enjoyed it, thank you.

A nice cheerful story! I won a goldfish at a fair, once. Never managed a coconut, though!
Felicity sounds like a fun person to be with.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 27, 2019 / 16:47

I’m not sure if they are allowed to give goldfish as prizes these days. I well remember taking one home in a plastic bag of water as a kid! Thanks for you lovely comment Penny.

I was just listening to Susan Boyle singing that song. What a coincidence 🙂

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 27, 2019 / 17:34

It is a most beautiful song, no matter who sings it. Thanks, Linda.

What a lovely story. You so perfectly described a day at the funfair, and the ending was a delight. Thanks for sharing it.

That was great, Keith! Love the triple use of roundabout!

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 28, 2019 / 09:08

The picture took me round in circles for a while, but I’m pleased it seems to have worked!

  10. Mike's avatar Mike November 27, 2019 / 23:38

Better to win a pig at the village fete, not to kiss of course.🙂

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 28, 2019 / 09:05

I think I’m better off with my coconut! Cheers Mike.

And you have a coconut and a sticky cheek.
Sounds like a perfect day. 🙂

Nice amusement park tale. Because of my interest in English music, I at least know what roundabout is? Did you get to ride on the helter skelter?

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 29, 2019 / 09:37

They really go round and round! You name it we rode it. Thanks Larry.

if it was a perfect day alright. it wasn’t every day you’d win a win a coconut 🙂

Some people win on the lotto, some at the races – I won a coconut! Absolutely perfect!

this made me smile. When I was about ten years old, I won a Goldfish at a fun fair. I cared for the little fish as if it was the most important pet in the world.
I am not sure they give them out as prizes anymore. I haven’t been to a fair for years.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 29, 2019 / 15:00

I very much doubt they do. I too loved my prize goldfish! Happy days.

  20. angietrafford's avatar angietrafford November 29, 2019 / 15:42

I think you’re allowed to win a fish in a bag any more, I won a bouncy ball instead last time I went! LOL. Lovely story giving me this sudden urge for candyfloss…

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 29, 2019 / 23:29

My last prize was a ridiculously large fluffy rabbit which I had to carry home on the bus! Candyfloss all round on me!

A fun (fair) story – most charming. What happened to the candyfloss on the roller coaster I wondered – twirled into Keef’s hair ?

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings November 29, 2019 / 23:18

A fair (fun) point! I’m still trying to get the sticky stuff out! Cheers.

Such a fun child’s voice. The first sentence or two I thought it was a nostalgic adult but then the cloud of floss and impetuous kiss at eye level made me picture two wildly excited kids reveling at a fair they hadnt been to in a whole 12 months!! You captured the moment well, thanks for the vivid picture!
