A short story…

for Sunday Photo Fiction

‘Question six’ yelled the quizmaster. ‘What is Athazagoraphobia?’

I just knew that question would come up in a pub quiz one day. I was just worried I’d forget it.

The quiz ended and it was time for the answers to be read out.

‘Question six. A fear of forgetting’.  I was the only person to get it right!

It was time to leave. My wife and I  put on our yellow jackets then went out and jumped on our matching yellow bicycles.  We cycled past the yellow shop front, then the 黄色的花瓣 Chinese restaurant (that’s Yellow Petal in Cantonese by the way) around the corner,  then dismounted at the house with the yellow front door, our front door!

You see, I thought that if we had a yellow theme, things would stand out and we wouldn’t forget which jackets we wore to the pub, which bicycles were ours etcetera. Clever eh?

Next week it’s the County Brainbox Championship. I won last year and the year before. They say I have a photographic memory. I’m just worried that one day I might forget everything!

Tonight we are having lemon sponge and custard for supper! Yum!

Hi Keith – I would not like to be ruled by a colour and have everything themed up … but a clever way of writing up a prompt. Yellow has merits – apart from warmth and good light … primroses are beautiful, zillions of shades of daffs/narcissi … pale Cornish cream … sharp green yellow … colours of all sorts are just delightful and thank goodness I don’t have colour blindness! Good take – cheers Hilary

I can’t imagine awaking one day to find everything is black and white. Primroses and cream! Perfect.

I’m not sure I could be ruled by a colour choice like that, but he is the brainbox after all!

I’m not sure if so much brain is worth it if you are ruled by fear (and a monochromatic life) like this!

When I see a hideous colored car or truck, I wonder why they would choose that color. Then I start looking for my own car in the parking lot and think hideous may not be such a bad thing at all. Clever story Keith.

Hello! I could have sworn I’ve been to this site before but after browsing through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Nonetheless, I’m definitely delighted I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back frequently!
