My friend Rosey and I visited an art gallery. Room one displayed boring abstract paintings, but the next room was very different. There, our eyes feasted upon paintings of Rubenesque ladies. Rosey complained that all the nude paintings depicted women. I jokingly pointed out a sign saying ‘Men’ and before I could stop her, she headed in the direction of the arrow then found herself viewing a wall of urinals!
On her way back she spotted an advert for life-painting classes. She says she’s enrolling in the hope there are are male models so she can offer the gallery something more interesting to display!

Over the past 10 years, I’ve written around 120 stories about My Friend Rosey. Most of them can be found here!

A bit late to the party, but here I am! Thanks to Rochelle, for hosting Friday Fictioneers, and to Roger Bultot for the picture

Hahaha. Hope Rosey would be able to add some interesting stuff to the museum’s collection.
That’s her plan! Thanks Piyali
Always nice to catch up with Rosey. I look forward to the stories she has to tell of her life-painting classes!
I intend reporting on her progress – as soon as there is some!
Yes, there should be sections to suit every visitor’s likes. Nude female models only cater to certain section of aficionados. May be someday it will change.
Now that’s an idea!
Mens’ nude bodies are rather boring IMO. But I am sure Rosey’s paintings would change all that.
I tend to agree Denise!
Heeheehee! Many of the classics were nudes, and you do find some of men, but not as many. Hope Rosey has fun learning to paint, and you both have a great Thursday!
She wants to help redress the balance! Cheers Mimi
Ha ha – I hope she contributes lots of male nudes to the gallery, Keith. (p.s. spotted a little typo: Room one room displayed…)

Thanks for that Susan – duly corrected!
Oh, that Rosey, what’s she like?!
Best of luck with her painting endeavours!
Could get pretty messy!
Hi Keith – good old (probably not that old!) Rosey … she does love just getting on with things and stating her mind … sounds like no men were inside the men’s … and what will Rosey find once she starts her life-painting classes … fun to read – cheers Hilary
Delighted you enjoyed it Hilary
Haha, I hope she didn’t find what she was looking for in that bathroom! I hope the art classes went well for her 🙂
Going well – or so she says!
Rosey reminded me of a comic, full of life and great fun. Just great to read about her desire to balance the books, but I am not sitting for her.😉
Shame, you were her first choice!
Haha! I’ve missed Rosey! Fun read.
She’s always lurking in the background! Thanks Sue
Hmm, The Wall of Urinals vs The Wall of Sound. Wonder who’d win.
I wonder?
i guess life’s not fair. 🙂
So true!
What a delightfully fun take on the prompt! You brought a smile to my face. Thank you.
I’m really pleased, thank you Alicia
I’m pleased. Thanks Alicia
Good on Rosey!
She’s a trier, Ill give her that!
She has to go to the Italian sculpture section 😉
If only I’d thought of that!
I chose not to suggest that! Thanks Dale
😁
Lots of nude males in the history of art. But not from Rubens. He liked the well-padded ladies. He’d have LOVED me 🙂
I couldn’t possibly comment!
🙂
Lovely to hear from Rosey again. I hope she’s successful in her plan to create paintings for the gallery. =)
I wouldn’t hold out too much hope!
Rosey dear, could you record
a few male voices, just for me?
There’s more, I fear, I’d like to hear
than that which I can see!
I’ll pass on your request! Thanks Jilly
If it says R. Mutt on the urinals it could be priceless art…
I think Rosey might agree with Gorilla Girls: “Do Women Have To Be Naked To Get Into the Met. Museum?”
Priceless pee-pots! Cheers Björn
Dear Keith,
I was an art student back in the day. Fresh out of high school, I sauntered into my figure study class to find we had a male model in the nude. Suffice it to say, it was quite the eye opener. 😉 Your story put my back there. Fun stuff.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Here’s the link to a story I wrote about a girl’s similar experience should you care to read it. https://rochellewisoff.com/2014/07/02/4-july-2014/
I hope I brought back HAPPY memories! On my way to your place – fully clothed!
