The boat

We’d seen him several times of late. Looking spruce in a tailored suit and shiny patent shoes, he’d stand at the bar, down a couple of shots, drop a twenty to the counter and leave.  With his olive complexion and glossy back hair he had a ‘godfatherish’ air about him.

Occasionally he’d be accompanied by a couple of similarly attired colleagues. They’d stand close together, speaking quietly, occasionally glancing around the room.

The other evening, as my friend and I partook of a drink, in he walked. As I watched him, he slowly turned his head and for a second, made eye contact. He bore a hint of a smile as he looked away again. Minutes later he’d gone. The bartender brought us a couple of beers. They were on the gentleman, he said.

Soon after, my mate and I headed off. He was in the carpark, leaning on a red Ferrari. He introduced himself. Said he was quite new to the area and keen to make friends. Then, to our surprise, he invited us to join him the following evening on his boat. Despite feeling a little wary as to what we were letting ourselves into we agreed!

Having passed one floating gin-palace after another, we arrived a jetty. He helped us down into a rubber dinghy. He started the motor and off we shot in the direction of a magificent superyacht!

‘Is that yours?’ I shouted.

‘No, this is!’ he laughed as we starting circling, twisting and spinning around!

    You made me laugh, Keith.
I was all set for nefarious deeds and got a delightful twist instead.
    Nice one.

When I start your recordings I look for a twist or a turn.
    I’m p_ssed when I don’t spot one, your know-how I never will learn.

You might want to to use another word than “twist”. If you get my gist.

It sounds like these fellows better know how to swim! Their pilot doesn’t sound very seaworthy.

I’m totally sincere😊 If a man who makes me laugh ever shows up where I actually live (as opposed to via Internet), I’ll rethink the idea of marrying again.🙄

Hahaha! Never judge a man’s boat by his clothes and manner!

I love the way this ended! Clearly the man has his priorities straight when it comes to spending his money!

That’s one crazy twist. The red Ferrari and the knowing ‘hint of a smile’ had me in. Very good.
