As soon as I saw the photo prompt at Sadje’s What Do You See? challenge, I remembered a poem I wrote 6 years ago!
.

.
.
When I am old
Does it mean I’ll be wise?
How far will I see
with my tired old eyes?
If I become frail
And a little bit ill
I’ll need to know
What’s over the hill
To see what’s beyond
I’ll climb to the top
At least, that’s the plan
Let’s hope I don’t flop!
Once I am there
I’ll look back on my life
Good times and sadness
Contentment and strife
So if I am wise
And if I can see
And need no assistance
When having a pee
I’ll be happy old chappy!

I can’t leave without adding one of my all-time favourite songs, Old and Wise by the Alan Parsons Project. This recording includes the lyrics which put my poetic endeavour to shame!

A lovely response Keith with a humorous twist at the end. Thanks for joining in. Loved the song.
Thanks, Sadje, that song is very special to me.
Hey Keith, your poem is a delightful journey through the whimsical thoughts of aging! The humor and wisdom woven in each line make it a joy to read. Well done!

I’m pleased that such a simple poem had the desired effect! Thank you, David
Would you mind if I share it as a reblog at some future point?
ha! and love the song, one of my fave songs by them was, eye in the sky
That is indeed a wonderful song. It was an unusual band having just two permanent members and an ever-changing list of guest performers!
What a great poem, Keith. You gave me a good laugh!
Mission accomplished! Thanks so much, Nancy.
What an absolutely beautiful video you posted. Brought a tear to my eye. Happy New Year!
Well done Keith. The realities of life and the affects of time on one’s movements is a totally relatable sentiment. Great take on the photo prompt!
I think you did quite well.
Love it! You never disappoint, Keith 🙂
Great poem, Keith. 🙂 I loved the last line.
