Maps, where would we be without them?
I jumped off the train, worked out my route and I was ready to go!
It should have been straightforward. That’s what I did, I walked straight forward. Then I turned left, right, right again and … I was completely lost!
Thanks to a signpost, I managed to find my way back to the station and started again.
It occurred to me that as I needed to head south, it would be best to hold the map the other way around.*
Off I trotted. Up, down, round and round and … I was completely lost, again!
I was not a happy chappy. I chucked the map in a bin, asked a passing stranger for directions and a few minutes later I was there!
Speaking of maps, I remember the time I pinned one to the wall and got my wife to aim a dart at it. Wherever it landed would be our next vacation destination. We spent two weeks behind the wardrobe!

Two weeks behind the wardrobe…LOL. What a way to vacation. Maps are only fun…when one already knows where one is going…LOL
Too right! Cheers, Suzette.
I once traveled with someone who could not read a map and got mad at me when I did. So I told her to lead the way. Oh. Yeah. We got lost!
Haha, serves her right!
Haha! Love the story of vacation behind the wardrobe! Thanks for this entertaining story.
Pleased you like it, Sadje! Thanks for the inspirational picture.
You’re most welcome
I am always lost but somehow end up where I’m meant to go eventually. Love the ending here
Lucky you, Beth!
Your story reminds me of one trip to the hospital. “Turn right, go down the hall, take the elevator on the right, down on next floor, turn right and follow that hall to the end, turn right, go through the doors and keep on, X-ray is just on your left. You can’t miss it.”
Great vacation Keith……. made me chuckle.
I remember being asked directions and gave a detailed account of how the driver could get there.
He thanked me and as I walked on I suddenly realised I’d sent them to the right place, but the road they wanted was actually directly behind me.
I like maps, and my Sweetie likes maps and 3 of our children like maps, and i don’t know where i went wrong with my Bigger Girl as she can get lost in a shoe box, with or without a map.
Love this! I don’t think younger people can use maps these days. They get Satnav to do it all. I love the darts method of choosing a place to visit too.
Well done, Keith.
