For Wordless Wednesday and bloghops various!
.
.
As I’ve mentioned many times before, at the end of my road is an Art Deco building known as the De La Warr Pavilion. As well as a theatre, a cinema, a restaurant, a shop and a roof terrace it has three galleries!
We currently have three exhibitions on the go including one of embroidered capes and cloths by Stitch for Change, a refugee and migrant based charity that supports those seeking refuge and safety in our area.
In we go!.

Up we go to the next level!

,

.

.

.
Downstairs there’s a strange exhibition of worn out motorcycle saddles, frayed gloves, scruffy crash helmets, used bungee cables and tatty backpacks in appreciation of the the mundane, neglected and forgotten items that surround us… apparently!
Here we go…

.

.

.

.
In another gallery we have intricately woven pieces by an indigenous textile artist from the La Puntana Wichi community in Salta, Argentina.

.

.

That’s enough for now, time to go home!

.

.
On Saturday I’m heading South to Madeira for a while. I should have a picture or two for you when I get back!
.
HERE’S LINKY!

First, safe travels Keith. And thank you for the beautiful photos of this great cause. I love your closeups of the fabrics especially indigenous textile artist.

Thanks so much, Suzette.
This year, over 15,000 migrants have arrived in small rubber boats along the coast on which I live- 400 last Wednesday alone.

Sadly, far too many lose their lives while attempting the crossing.

What a fascinating mix of the delicate and the gritty, embroidered capes speaking of resilience upstairs, and downstairs, a raw tribute to the overlooked textures of everyday life; the De La Warr Pavilion never fails to surprise
