“Trust Keith to go missing when it’s his turn to buy the first round”, said Ted, “does anyone know where he is?”
“He’s going on holiday at the weekend”, said Arthur, “I expect he’s got packing to do, he’s a stickler for wearing the right clothes for every occasion, he’s probably prancing around in front of a mirror right now, ‘take this, leave that, maybe them, maybe not!’ ”.
“Keith being awol has its benefits” said Colin, “I don’t have to put up with him pulling faces when I’m entertaining you with my jokes, Suzie doesn’t have to put up with him sticking his fingers in his ears when she sings, and Len doesn’t have to put up with him suggesting ways to improve the pub … mind you, he has benefited from one or two of ex-landlord-Keith’s ideas even if he has claimed them to be his in the first place!” – “OY,” yelled Landord Len. “I heard that”.
“The biggest benefit is that he won’t be telling his multitude of Bugger friends, whatever he calls them, things about us that should stay between us”, said Poppy from the knitting table; “actually, I’ve benefitted from his forthcoming trip”, said Maisy, “he got me to knit him a scarf and hat!”
“He’s going to Norway”, said Babs, “I wouldn’t go there, it’s cold enough here, Norway no way!”; “my grandson went there”, said Arthur, “and he stayed in a hotel made from ice, it even had an outdoor stage built from ice where a band played, probably The Arctic Monkeys!” – Suzie from the next table lept to her feet and started singing – “there’s no business like snow business…!” .
“I tell people about the benefits of eating dried fruit”, said Colin, “it’s all about raisin awareness – Switzerland has benefits, even its flag’s a big plus – there are no benefits to working on a foggy day, too many mist opportunities……….”

Cheeky devils! They are right though, I am going away for a while. See you back at The Baaamy Inn on December 12th!
Thanks to Denise for hosting Six Sentence Stories where this week’s given word is benefit.

I’m sure that deep down in their hearts, they are really missing you though. At any rate, they’ll definitely miss those drinks that you didn’t get them! I know that I’ll miss your posts. Hope you have a great trip, Keith.

They build one in Quebec City every year so I would not be surprised they have them in Norway!

Nice last line about mist opportunities in the fog. I agree with Babs: The thought of places like Norway makes me want to shiver.

Have an absolutely smashing holiday. I just returned to blogosphere after a hiatus and I am already missing you, Keith.
See you around soon. Can’t wait to read all the stories you come home, armed with.
I’m wondering if you will “indulge” yourself in an ice-bath in Norway? :-))
Stay warm and enjoy thanksgiving.
Bon Voyage!
