It was nice day so I thought I’d have a walk in the countryside. I found a field, climbed the fence and trotted off.
The birds were singing, well, whistling, the sun was shining and the breeze was breezing. I was at one with mother nature, although I couldn’t actually see her of course.
I strolled through trees, entered a glood, or glade whatever it’s called, passed some bushes and there it was. What I hear you ask. A railway line, the last thing I expected to see.
Being obedient, I did as instructed, stopping, looking and listening, and then I saw a train heading towards me. Toot-toot it went, toot-toot I replied!
After it passed I carried on. One hour later I couldn’t believe my eyes, there was the railway line again! As I did the stop-look-listen thing, a train pulled up. The driver offered me a lift, so I climbed into a wagon and off we went.
It dropped me off in a field, literally – it shot round a bend and I rolled out landing in a stinky cow pat. A cow sniffed me, turned up its nose and wandered off!
Having walked for another hour I met the track again. I realised I’d been walking in circles.
I blamed it on my shoes, so I swapped them over hoping it might make them behave.
It had the desied affect for I only crossed the line once again before making it back to civilisation. My feet really hurt though!

What a great line!
“I blamed it on my shoes, so I swapped them over hoping it might make them behave.”
Totally in the same class of zen(ish) observations as my favorite Douglas Adams quote (about how a person might learn to fly), “Throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

That is a wonderful quote, thanks for reminding me!

…are made for walking – in circles!
Did you know that if you are blindfolded and attempt to walk straight ahead you actually begin to walk in a circle? Just thought I’d mention it!

You go on so many walks and I enjoy everyone of them. But somehow (and I may be wrong and I hope I am) I feel I have read this walk before. It seems you make a habit of stopping, looking and listening on every walk you walk. Are you sure you just didn’t copy/paste an old walk for this challenge. Don’t make me go back and reread every walk you ever walked! Or worse yet call the Post Patrol or the Post Police.

My dear Lady Sighs, Reluctant as I am to get between you and an object of your benign wrath, I have to inform you that (Jenne says) copy/paste is allowed here if 1. you don’t have time b) you don’t have inspiration or iii you just can’t be bothered trying this week. So no need to call the Feds on poor wee Keefy, okay?

Well, you felt my wrath last week with the fire and everything. So I didn’t want to leave Keith out. Can’t Keith speak for himself? He hasn’t denied anything. And I didn’t accuse him of anything, except maybe that his walks do sound a bit the same. Not the content perhaps. But that voice!!!
And Hey! I posted a nice comment on your story this week and it was meant to be an apology for last week. 🙂

Hey, how did I get dragged into this?
I’m not paid enough to get caught in the crossfire between the delightful Ladysighs and the august C.E. Ayr.
I feel like a beagle – see the Snoopy cartoon where Sally is having problems at the sandpit and takes Snoopy along for protection. ‘Speak softly and carry a beagle,’ she says.

Haha, you are WRONG! I walk a lot, look up a lot, look down a lot, listen a lot, sing a lot, trip over a lot, but this little bit of nonsense poured from my simple mind like so much **** from a slurry pit! You are therefore excused from going back, but don’t stop if you suddenly feel the urge.

Won’t be the first time I’ve been WRONG! And I’ve survived to be WRONG again. I’m not going back. I’m not even rereading this walk without slurry pit boots.
Sing a lot?? I don’t recall a post with a song. And I’m not looking back to find one.

Sometimes, Keef, I worry about you.
But mostly I don’t.
Circles are cool.

Thanks for the info, Keith. Next time I feel that my life is going round in circles I’ll try swapping my shoes over. Who’d have guessed the solution would be that simple? Fun story. Nice of the train driver to give you a lift, but I think he might have been part of the problem. Anyway, all’s well that ends well.
