… for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers (on a Wednesday!) photo prompt..
.

.
.
We were enjoying a leisurely drink when Curmudgeonly Claud strolled over and joined us.
“Mine’s a scotch, who’s buying?” he mumbled.
He’s a proper misery-guts. Mention something exciting, and he’ll put a damper on it. Tell him about an interesting development and he’ll say it’s nonsense. Talk about a new discovery and he’ll just shrug his shoulders.
So, when he told us something unbelievable was about to happen we were gobsmacked!
“You’ll say you believe in fairies next!” I joked.
“I do,” he said,” there’s one in my garden”. Our laughter was short-lived when he produced a photograph of it!.

They are! I only saw one other reference in all of the stories, and that one may have been Tinkerbell.

I came up with the story before I saw the fairy in the picture – she was an added bonus!

The wee folk surprise you by showing up in the oddest places. I think they especially like to challenge those who don’t believe.

They do, you’d be amazed where I’ve seen them!

I hope Claud’s discovery helps him to lighten up a bit. No-one should remain a curmudgeon forever. Cute story.

Wonderful, Keith! I don’t have that zoom-in option on my PC, and did not see what you discovered 🙂

I didn’t discover it until I’d finished writing the story, I couldn’t believe my luck!

Well, that’s pretty amazing 🙂

The proof was all I needed, all straight from the diary of CS Lewis. Mind you, my brother was a Master Forger, he had all the certificates to prove it.
So the little fairies are attracted to pink, interesting.

A very useful brother to have, I’d have liked a few forged certificates! Try leaving something pink in your garden, you might be surprised!

Good eye! I had to go check my own copy just in case you photoshopped that in there. Great story too! 🙂

I love your descriptions of Claud. I think he might change with the appearance of a fairy, though fairies can be quite naughty. Good eye and good story!!

Thank you Brenda. The fairy has quite a challenge, but I’m pretty sure she’ll wing it!

I know people like Claud. That fairy is good for him. What a lovely fun story. The way I see it, Claud isn’t disliked despite his faults.
