Pashley Manor was built in 1543. It remains today a family home which sits in eleven acres of gardens surrounded by glorious uninterrupted countryside on the border between the counties of Sussex and Kent.

At the time of my visit, the gardens provided a stunning backdrop to an exhibition of about 150 pieces of modern sculpture, all of which were trying to attract purchasers. Here are just a few.

Pashley Manor is beautiful. It’s nice to hear that it is a family home. I was hoping it was a bed and breakfast, but a family home is wonderful.

That is quite a family home. Now we feel like we live in a small shack! We can’t imagine living like that with all the sculptures and things, so much upkeep to be done, but a beautiful place.
