One hundred words…

for Friday Fictioneers

.

When I misplaced my thesaurus I was lost for words. I walked past a junk shop with piles of old books in the window so I popped in hoping I might find one.

“Have you a thesaurus?”

“A tortoise? No dear, there’s a pet shop next door”.

“No, a book, a  thes…au…rus!”

“Sorry dear, I’m a little deaf. Let’s see”.

She moved things, dropped things, disappeared behind things then reappeared clutching a tatty tome.

“There dear, a book on dinosaurs, there’s bound to be something in there about tyrannosauruses”.

Actually, it was quite an interesting book, so I bought it!

Haha! Love this. So true, how talking to someone with hearing difficulty can make a conversation hilariously confusing. It happens to me at work often in aged care. Nice one, Keith 🙂

    Dear Keith,

You had me at “a loss for words,” you clever fellow! Delightful as always.

    Shalom,

I wondered if anyone would notice that – but I knew I could rely on you! Thanks, Rochelle.

I enjoyed reading this, well I am still laughing. But, seriously are we heading back to the age of the dinosaurs, if not physically then mentally?

Good to be flexible and dinosaur books who can turn down?! Surprised she didn’t point you to the nearest Toy-R-Us as well 🙂

Keith, you always get me laughing with your stories (unless you are writing in another genre, of course!)

As always your humour is ‘The source’ of much jocularity 🙂

he didn’t find what he was searching, but it went well in the end. it’s like traveling, when you get lost, you’d likely discover something new. 🙂

Well written and well (voice) acted, Keith. The world of retail with hearing loss is confusing, but it as a customer or owner.

I had a feeling she thought the request was for a book on dinosaurs … good piece.
