It’s Wednesday…

…so here’s my piece for Friday Fictioneers.

..

Lovely street food, Paul

Let’s have a bit, Bert.

‘Scuse me miss. She’s tasty, isn’t she Paul?

Behave, Bert!  We’ll have some of this, them, those, these and that one please, miss.

I fancy a bit of the other….

Bert, what did I say?

…one Paul, the other one.

How much, miss?

H̄nụ̀ng phạn h̄nụ̀ng r̂xy h̄nụ̀ng bāth khrạb

How many Bahts Bert?

1101, Paul.

How much is that in real money Bert?

Twenty-five pounds eighty-eight pence precisely Paul.

Right, tuck in. This is nice, they’re okay, that one’s horrid…

I still fancy a bit of the other…

Bert!

…one Paul, the other one.

Very authentic story Keith. Better do something about your friend! 😅

Goodness, that might upset the locals, if they can understand Bert that is! Brought a smile Keith.

An amusing story, Keith, well seasoned with humor (of course). Yes, I had to look up the Brit idiom. Now I shall never forget it. 🙂

Thanks Bill. I got the impression that some of the previous commenters hadn’t got it, so I’ve now added an explanation at the top!

    Dear Keith,

Whimsical banter. I can see Bert getting into trouble if the local ladies understood him.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Just a little. Always try to finish a sentence just in case! Cheers Rochelle.

great humour of Bert and Paul on holiday. I wonder if food is the only thing they are after. Bert has a mind like a calculator and he speaks the lingo perhaps he has decided to live there.

Everyone has that friend who is totally wrapped up in a bit of the other. And if you don’t, you are it! lol Funny story, Keith.

Bert has a one-track mind, it seems. Good things he understands that language and the rate of exchange 🙂

Humorous banter between two friends. Paul needs to let Bert finish, though. I think there’s some misunderstanding happening here. 🙂

Amusing. I am glad that locals do not understand their language.

    Loved the voices
