62066ccd_oMy friend Rosey, her chum Amanda and I were at the village football match standing alongside a cluster of bored-looking wives and girlfriends who were chatting away, not even glancing at the battle being fought out by their loved ones. 

There were about ten minutes to go and the score was nil-nil when one of the players kicked the ball out of touch and towards Rosey and Amanda who took control of it, running away from the pitch, kicking it to each other whilst giggling like a couple of school kids!

‘Come on lads’ shouted one of the blue team, and with that, all twenty-two players rushed off the pitch in pursuit of the girls.

Passing the ball back and forth, running, twisting and turning, they left the boys confused, exhausted and tripping over each other!

They headed back in the direction of the pitch and when they were twenty yards from the goal, Amanda sent the ball high into the sky, and as it descended, Rosey leapt into the air and headed it straight into the net!

There was an enormous cheer from the wives and girlfriends who’d suddenly found football the greatest game on earth!
