A poem

for Six Sentence Stories where the given word is Fair.

 .

0000

.

00That’s my present, right up there,

but I can’t reach it, it’s not fair.

.

Even stood on tippy-toes,

how I’ d  get it heaven knows.

.

If I grab this leg and shake,

it may fall down, but it might break.

.

I could climb up on this chair,

but I hate heights, don’t think I dare..

.

If I clamber on that shelf

I could fall and hurt myself.

..

It’s just not fair, I’ll have to wait,

it’s not easy being eight!

    Excellent Six!
(Even not being a pome guy, I enjoyed the ease of words, rhythm of story and accessibility of imagery)

It’s not often I attempt a ‘pome’, I’m not one for following rules and regulations when it comes to writing!

Aww, that’s sweet, Keith. As a person of rather short stature, I can relate!!

Hi Keith – those were the days … in a tree climbing household disasters were sure to happen – I certainly had a few catastrophes – hole in head still there to be seen – thankfully not disastrous … and those were the days when the doctor came to the house and stitched me up – I guess could explain a few things now! Cheers I’ll stay on my feet for now … have a happy Christmas … Hilary

Haha, no problem, thanks so much!

I guess your tree-climbing days are over! I can’t drive past Hailsham Rec without looking at the chestnut trees we scaled as kids – fortunately without sustaining any injuries!

      Have a lovely Christmas Hilary.

Even today I’m struggling to avoid the temptation of diving into the pressies under my tree, nothing changes!

Sometimes there’s almost as much frustration as fun for kids at Christmas, lol
    Cute poem, Keith.

Good one, Keith. Could really feel the frustration of that eight year old wanting to get to his present but being aware of the risks!

You must have been watching my four-year old granddaughter when she found a stool, climbed up on it and reached into the top drawer of my lingerie chest. I only figured out she did it when I saw hatpins on the carpet. Yikes!

Not fair. These were the words we utter most as kids. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

So true, nothing was fair when we were kids! Have a lovely Christmas, Nancy.
